I gave birth last night to my son, Dietrich Thomas.

I know I'm gonna get a lot of 'wtf?' for that, but then I got it for my older kids' names (Germaine Evelyn and Linus Christopher) so I figure people are used to it by now.

oh, except for my oldest brother, a dj/record producer, who said "Dietrich? hey, cool, that's my distributor's name. I'll have to go tell him."

I always really liked your other two kids' names so I was really curious about this one.

I think Dietrich Thomas is my favorite. It's poetic, kind of like Dylan Thomas but way less common and more interesting.

I'm actually not incredibly fond of the Thomas part, but it's my dad's name and my FIL's name, so it was next on our list for male middle names.

Although it's not really my style I respect it SO much more than another "Michael Scott" or "Ryan James" (no offense to anyone who has these names or has used/is using them - they're strong names, just way too common for my personal taste)... I think it's wonderful that you've blessed your kids with unique names :)!

I'm not sure how to pronounce Dietrich because I've never heard it, only seen it written... I'm guessing maybe deet-rick? If so that's cool.
