I've known (or known of) multiple pit bulls named Bella so I always think of a pit bull, to hear a human named Bella throws me off. :)

I like it and I LOVE Simone. :)

When I first read your question I thought you said WHY does everyone think of Avery Simone as a girl. I was like uhhh I don't think anyone will interpret that as a boys name, haha. I had to re-read it.

I actually like that, I'm surprised, because the names alone don't really appeal to me, but together seems to be a different story, aha.

Well, the personal taste of an internet stranger shouldn't really matter, so I'm just going to talk about the flow of the combination.

Rhythmically it feels like it has one too many syllables to my ear. It staggers rather than flows.

Now, it may be that some people are actually looking for jarring combinations, in which case this is just going to be another random opinion that doesn't apply. However, if you do want something mellifluous, you might try Avery with a two syllable name stressed on the first syllable (Avery Simon if you're naming a boy ;)). Or use that same name rhythm in front of Simone - say, Ava Simone.

I adore Avery but it's mostly a love/hate name with others. HATE Simone. Totally 80's and meh to me.

The only Avery I ever knew was a boy and a football player. So, I don't care much for a girl's name.

I used to LOVE Avery for a girl... then I found out it was originally a boys name and it's been tainted for me ever since cause I hate boys names on girls. I don't cringe when I see it on a girl (I liken it to Taylor and Jordan... better for boys but acceptable on a girl), but I prefer it for a boy now. I love Simone though.

Don't know if you care how popular a name is, but there are 2 little girls named Avery in the 0-12 month sunday school class my son is in and there are only 7 or 8 girls total.
