Someone mentioned to me the name:

Benjamin Colerige (Co-ler-rige)

Thoughts?

"Colerige" reminds me of "Coleridge," which I'd pronounce "Cole-ridge." Not a fan of that name.

The poet's name is more usually Coh-ler-idge at home in the UK - although he did use cole-ridge for one rhyme (and coh-ler-idge for another), he had a strong West Country accent so it would have been more like cow-rijj in speech, and he was only doing it for effect anyway. :)

I am not a fan of surnames as first (or middle) names so I don't much like it either.

Hey, you're here too! Cool. ;)

Ah, thanks for the lesson. I really didn't know how he pronounced his name.

My third-year extended essay (not quite a dissertation) was on Coleridge, so I have tons of books on him dotted around the place and remember the stuff about his accent quite vividly. Not least because it was a bit similar to the one I grew up with. :)

Heh, I can certainly understand why you would then! :)

It's a mouthful.

Unless that mn is a family surname, I don't care for it.

I like it. Coleridge, as a literary reference, might sound somewhat pretentious, I guess, but it's good as a middle name rather than a first.

I like Cole-Ridge but not Cole-ur-ridge or Coll-er-ridge. Its kind of different and peppy but sounds old at the same time.
