The poet's name is more usually Coh-ler-idge at home in the UK - although he did use cole-ridge for one rhyme (and coh-ler-idge for another), he had a strong West Country accent so it would have been more like cow-rijj in speech, and he was only doing it for effect anyway. :)
I am not a fan of surnames as first (or middle) names so I don't much like it either.
My third-year extended essay (not quite a dissertation) was on Coleridge, so I have tons of books on him dotted around the place and remember the stuff about his accent quite vividly. Not least because it was a bit similar to the one I grew up with. :)
