[identity profile] composure.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Watching The Hills marathon on MTV yesterday made me realize that the cast has a nice mixture of traditional and more contempory names, so I've created a poll to find out your favourites. Just pick your favourite female and male name from the list, and feel free to discuss you choices in the comments!

[Poll #949439]

I picked Bella and Spencer, but it was a tough choice between Bella and Heidi...Audrina's pretty too.

Bella reminds me of a dog - which in this case it is. I don't like it as a stand alone name at ALL. Lauren is one of my fave names period, as is Brian.

Yes, I was going to say, Bella is SUCH a popular dog name it's ridiculous. D: I would never name a dog Bella, but I realized I love it for a person.

Heidi and Audrina are horrible IMO. I like Bella but more as a NN. Lauren's a somewhat boring 80's name, but I like it anyway.

The boy names are more likable to me. Spencer's always been one of my favorites though so that won pretty easily.

Lol, actually with a few odd names thrown in I like pretty average names, those name are just all names that have always made me say 'ick'.

I do like Heidi somewhat, and I almost picked it, but there are just too many weird associations with it for me. I was very in to the book as a child and it will also always be a dog's name for me. And the name of my baby sitter's mean best friend.

Lauren-- is just so blah and not very pretty.
Audrina-- sounds almost made up and I don't like the way it sounds
Whitney-- I don't like it much, just not very pretty, and reminds me of the rich girl from that Cosby spin-off show, even though her name was actually Whitley. Sounds too 80s.
Bella-- is actually pretty, but the name of my mom's cat (Belladonna actually), but it seems to simple for a name. I also prefer Belle.

Spencer-- Scary guy I rode the bus with as a child. He'd been hit by a car and was very weird. I realize now, of course, that it was very sad and he couldn't help it, but back then he was just 'scary ranting ickilly-interested in me guy' to me.

Brody-- Just seems like a weird conglomeration of names to me.. it wants to be Brady.. lol. Also the name of my husband's spazz friend.

Jordan-- makes me think almonds. Also, Jordache. Just too blah. I seem to be turned off of names that were popular in my age group (I'm 26).

Jason-- Every guy I've known named Jason was obnoxious and/or full of himself. Also, same age group reason as for Jordan.

Brian-- is not so bad, I just would never use it. NOt aname I'm especially enamored of.

I didn't realize you were posting about a T.V. show-- I need to read more thoroughly!
