Mar. 17th, 2007 04:09 pmAn old family friend just had her second baby: Vincenzo Wynn B_____. Nickname 'Enzo'.. What do you think?
How would you pronounce Vincenzo? They're Italianish. I had this same problem with their daughter Ciara.

Date: 2007-03-17 11:22 pm (UTC)It's ok. I don't tend to care for Italian names and it definitely sound highly Italian. Ciara seems very strongly Irish in comparison, and a bit weird. I'd almost expect their next child to be named a strongly Spanish name like Jose or Margarita, lol!

Do they pronounce Ciara the Irish way or the Italian way (more like Chiara)?

Date: 2007-03-18 10:35 pm (UTC)I guess you would call them very Italian. I really don't know if the father is of Italian descent or not, but the mother is. We're close to the mother's family, but I don't know if her mother is Italian either. But her paternal grandmother is 1st generation from Italy; not sure if her dad is too. She got really into the Italian language and culture as a teenager (she's about 10 years older than me) and studied in Italy for awhile. Anywho.. lol.

Date: 2007-03-26 11:04 pm (UTC)As for Ciara...I have this problem every time I see a reference to the singer Ciara. She pronounces it "Sierra," but I read it as "Chiara." Like, "Chee-ARR-a," or even "CHARR-a."
