An old family friend just had her second baby: Vincenzo Wynn B_____. Nickname 'Enzo'..  What do you think?


How would you pronounce Vincenzo? They're Italianish. I had this same problem with their daughter Ciara.

vin-CHEN-zo is what I'd say.

It's ok. I don't tend to care for Italian names and it definitely sound highly Italian. Ciara seems very strongly Irish in comparison, and a bit weird. I'd almost expect their next child to be named a strongly Spanish name like Jose or Margarita, lol!

Chiara is Italian though, maybe it's a spelling variant of that.

Thanks! Wrong spelling, same pronunciation. Her name is Chiara. Or is it Key-are-uh? Lol, I get confused as I neveactually hear the names.. they're East Coast and we mostly only correspond via email!

According to this site (http://www.yeahbaby.com/baby-name.php?name=Vincenzo), both pronunciations are correct. I've just always heard it Vin-CHEN-zo, so if I saw it, that's how I'd pronounce it.

I think it's cute and definitely fits them. Not a name I would use, but like I said, it's them. I also prefer Vin-CHEN-zo over Vin-SEN-zo. Lol, of course, I'm not Italian and steer more towards Irish names.

I guess you would call them very Italian. I really don't know if the father is of Italian descent or not, but the mother is. We're close to the mother's family, but I don't know if her mother is Italian either. But her paternal grandmother is 1st generation from Italy; not sure if her dad is too. She got really into the Italian language and culture as a teenager (she's about 10 years older than me) and studied in Italy for awhile. Anywho.. lol.

I really like Vincenzo, but I do have the family bias. My mom's family is super Italian, so it sort of works. My other great-uncle is Antonio. Vin-CHEN-zo just sounds better to me, because the hard c is much more common in Italian.

My mom really loves Italian names, but she didn't want to do that for me because our last name is really Irish and she thought it would sound weird.

Vin-CHEN-zo is how I say it and I am half Italian. Chiara is also Italian so I think they go together quite nicely as a sibling set. Enzo is adorable.

As for Ciara...I have this problem every time I see a reference to the singer Ciara. She pronounces it "Sierra," but I read it as "Chiara." Like, "Chee-ARR-a," or even "CHARR-a."
