My dad has two cousins- a brother and sister- named Duane and Duanna. They're not twins, so far as I know.

I personally think naming two children something so similar is dumb. WDYT?

My stepmom's brothers are named Shane and Dane and my stepmom's son is Zane. To top it all off, Shane's daughter is Shaena.

...ugh. :\

"Shaena" - What a terrible spelling!

that's my little sisters name, but she spells is simply "Shana" - my mom always argues with people when they pronounce it "Sh-anne-ah"... I guess because I'm so used to the name it just looks completely wrong with that "e" shoved in there!

My sister's name is Danielle and mine is Michelle and my mom always said if she had another daughter she would name her Gabrielle. The "elle" trend wasn't initially planned. My sister was named after my dad, Daniel and my name was from a Beatles song. But now my mom tried to convince me to use the Gabrielle name if I had a girl. I was like...uh...no thanks.

My DH has quite a few twins in his family all with matchy-matchy names. His mother is Carla, her twin is Marla.

Lavonne & Lavonda are another twinset in his family. I can't remember the rest of the names. I think there are 2-3 other twinsets.

I don't like it.

Duanna?
Oh, that's awful just on its own.

Similar sounding is one thing... but male/female versions of the SAME NAME is sick.

Mine and my sisters names are both 2-syl. ending in a "ah" sound and that's matchy enough for me!

OMG I knew a sib set named Duane and Duana. Their mom's name was Jennifer and I think the dad's name was Duane as well.

haha Duane is such a sucky name in the first place, without having 3 of them in the one family.

I don't like when people name their children with a theme. I think it's dumb too! I've never heard Duanna before either.

I knew a Nicole and Nicholas sib-set which I always thought was awful since they both went by Nick and Nicky. But Duane and Duanna is even worse than that! Yuck.

I actually like the whole 'same sounding' 'same initial' name idea but it hasn't ever happened in my family (We're Edward, Irene and Monica) and I don't plan on naming my children something like that.

My grandmother and her identical twin were Jane and Janet. Their brother was Jack. Great-Aunt Janet then went on to have a daughter named Mary-Jane.
