[identity profile] gem-gam.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hi I am new here. I am 29 weeks and 3 days and from Perth Western Austalia.
I am expecting twin girls in on the 21st May 2006. We have two names picked out one I picked which is Lilia and my partner picked Escher. I have to admitt though I am not the biggest fan of the name Escher I know its the last name of a male artist but I still can't shake the male connatations. That and I really like Lilia a lot more and feel like I am already playing favourites because I don't like Escher as much (I know thats silly)

So anyway hello *waves* maybe you can help me with an alternative name that my partner and I will both like. I suggested Juliet but he doesn't like that, Sadie, Gwen etc and it took me months to convince him on Lilia!

Edit due on the 21st May 2007! sorry baby brain (I guess I really didn't wanna let them out LOL)

Yay for twins, and yay for Australians! Congratulations, and I hope everything goes really well.

This might seem a bit obvious, but how about Esther? That's definitely a girls' name (and I agree that Escher has definite male connotations because of the artist). Lilia is pretty, too. Aww, I love the name Sadie.

Um... I guess you like more "traditional" names, judging by the ones you've suggested. What about Flora? I just really like that one.

(I meant to add that I'm both a twin and an Australian, though from Melbourne rather than Perth.)

Don't worry, I think we all have that at one point in our pregnancy.
Congratulations, by the way!

I'm clumsy to begin with, but when I was pregnant I would randomly walk into walls, drop anything I was holding and fall down a lot. I understand completely!
You're due the day before my son's birthday. He was born May 22nd, 2004.

No constructive suggestions, but...
Oh good lord. Escher? What a god-awful, ugly name, especially for a girl. I don't get it. I'd be pretty darn pissed off if my twin sister was Lilia, and I got stuck with Escher!!! Someone's definitely getting the short end of the stick here :(

Lilia is a pretty name. Best of luck trying to talk some sense into Dad!

P.S. I see you mentioned he's Japanese - someone on here recently named her daughter Kaida, which I think is lovely. Maybe he'd like some Japanese names like that?

Awww...Lilia is so pretty. Poor little Escher. I mean, doesn't even sound like a name really.

Juliet is at the top of my list, and I love Sadie too. :(

Does anyone in his or your family have a less horrible name than that? You could use that as a reason to call her something you actually like. Maybe you could name her after yourself?

I am from VIC by the way.

Ugh, don't name one of the twins Escher. I agree with the person who said that they'd be pretty pissed off if their name was Escher but their twin sister got the name Lilia. Tell your SO that you have a community full of people telling you that Escher is horrible and it should never be used for a girl, lol.

My favorite female names:

Annabelle
Arden
Celestia
Davina
Fae
Helena
Idony
Isolde
Lisette
Lucia
Rosalind
Rose
Scarlett
Tessa

Hehe yay! I think it needs to be a much prettier name than Escher if the other twin is called Lillia

(not that I think twins names should match in any way but I agree that it would suck to have one twin with a pretty name and one with this harsh dodgy name)

I'm from Brisbane :)
