What do you think of the name Georgia Mae(nn maybe George) for a girl? What about William August(nn maybe Gus)? Our last name is VERY Cajun if that makes a difference.
TIA

Georgia Mae sounds verrrrryyyyy deep South [US] to me.
That being said, I think it's really cute. Except not with the nickname George.
The only nicknames I've really heard on a Georgia were GeeGee or Gia.

I don't hate Willium August. Gus is a cute nickname, though.

I love Georgie. Don't like George.

William August for a girl or boy? I like it a lot for a boy, but not the NN Gus.

Georgia Mae is pretty (though I agree it sounds really Deep South) but I have issues with girls named George because every one I have ever met has been a total bitch. I like Georgia infinitely more than Georgina though.

I like William August but I'm not fan of Gus. It sounds fat...although I have no idea why.

Georgia Mae is a beautiful name. Please don't ruin it by calling her George. Really, it's just...ew.

William August is not horrible, though I prefer August for a girl. I like Gus, but it's the name of my sister's dog.

I actually know a girl named Georgia May and she is adorable! I think it's a great pairing of names. Though I wouldn't call her Georgia May all the time, just Georgia. Also, I prefer May over Mae, but either one is fine.

I love George, but I don't think people who are not fans of DLM would get it.

My former photo teacher named her son August and they call him Gus. It's adorable!

Love William August. and I think George is a cute nickname for a girl but it might sound all around too southern if you have southern sounding last name.

I think George is an ok nickname but it completely depends on the person. She just might not be a George. I think it's the kind of nickname that she would have to choose for herself. You could get a very feminine little girl who is like "you're calling me a boy's name!!!!" I think this applies WAY more to George than to other names like Sam, Jo, Andie, etc.

They're both nice even if I'm not fond of August. Will is a better nickname than Gus to me, and it makes more sense since it'll be the first name. William is my second favorite male name next to James.

Georgie is a good nickname for Georgia. Actually, possibly the only one that makes sense and is heard often.
