Thoughts on Illiam (just like William minus the W). I got the name from http://www.behindthename.com/
Would you say it "Il-yam" or "Il-lee-am"?

Does William Williams sound like a stupid name? I do, but my boyfriend says he thinks it sounds fine.

William Williams makes me laugh. I just think repetition in names sounds funny. I think Illiam is an interesting name. I would say "Il-lee-am."

William Williams is a little silly to me, but not awful-awful.

Illiam to me sounded liked ill-ee-um. It reminds me of a house/estate called Ilam in Christchurch, NZ. Points to anyone who knows what movie features the location. ;-)

I'd say it like Ill-ee-um. Sounds a bit like Ilium, the alternate name for the city Troy.

Repeat names like William Williams sound bad to me.

I don't like William even on it's own. William sounds way too much like 'willie' and you know how immature boys can be. Especially in their teen years!

I think it's really silly to name a kid "William Williams." If your last name is, in fact, Williams, I don't think Illiam fixes the problem, either. I think the closest you can go without sounding really bad is "Liam", but I think that's still stretching things.

I think Illiam Williams, if pronounced 'Il-yam' sounds even worse than William Williams. Hell.. Il-lee-am William sounds horrible, too.

Any names that repeat are stupid and weird!
I knew a guy named Thomas Thomas. Tom Thomas, he went by. Which I thought was just ridiculous..I don't know why parents do this to their children!

I know, I always think that if you love a name so much and that name also happens to be your last name then great! You get to give ALL your kids that name you love, plus you get to pick something ELSE for them all too.

There's an Edward Edwards in Stephen Fry's Making History. He gets called Double Eddie.
And there's the poet William Carlos Williams.
William Williams is difficult to say.

Yes, 'William Williams' sounds stupid. Even worse if he gets called 'Will Williams' as an adult. Or 'Willy Williams' as a child. It's just all bad.

Illiam is okay. I would pronounce it 'Il-lee-am', which makes me think:
–noun, plural il·i·a /ˈɪliə/ [il-ee-uh] Anatomy.
The broad, upper portion of either hipbone.

I like Uilliam( Uhl-yum) myself, which I found in my baby names book, probably with the nn Liam.

Not that I don't agree that it sounds uncreative, but what does creativity and imagination of parents have anything to do with some character on American Dreamz with the same name blowing themselves up? I don't follow your logic.

Illiam sounds to me like ill. yum! I wouldn't want my name to start with ill and being ill isn't appealing or tasty.
