Usually I only post my short list here, but I bored so i figured i'd post my long list and see what you all think. After the first couple of names, the lists are in no particular order, really.

I really dislike nicknames, so none of these would be shortened to anything. I tend to like names that feel more classical, i guess. and my boy names very masculine and my girl names very feminine. Wilder and Beckett are quite new to my list, I'm not 100% sure about them yet.

Also, if you have any suggestions of names i might like, i'm always up for it. I'm constantly adding and changing my lists. most of these have been on there for a while, though.

My suggestion is that you keep in mind you're naming an individual who will have their own thoughts on their name. You can't keep a child from going by a nickname they like. You can't stop people from making up or using common nicknames for your child either. It may turn out your child hates their name and loves a nickname for it or that they just prefer a nickname. It could happen at any point in their life when they can speak so even if it didn't happen til they were an adult, it could still be something they would end up wanting. In short, I don't think it's wise to choose names based on nicknames or your desire or lack of desire for them.

Er, what I meant to say at the end of my note too is kind of the entire point: you need to be okay with the common nicknames for any name you choose. If you really hate a nickname of one of the names, don't pick that name.

if my child wants to use a nickname, that's fine, i won't encourage it, but it's fine. but i could easily point out that they go by their full name if someone uses a common nickname. my dad's name is william, and has always gone by william, not bill or will. if people call him bill, he just states that his name is william, not bill. I don't see it as that big of a deal, i pick out names because i like them, not the nicknames, if i wanted to name my child ellie, i would name her ellie, not elinor.

harper is my #1 choice for the my little girlie (due july 10th). i pushed for it with my daughter who is now 5 but her dad refused. i'm hoping i can persuade him to go with it this time.

oh, and if we were having a boy, we were considering Peter and calling him "Rock" since that's the meaning.

i myself love nicknames...my daughter is kayleigh james but we call her "jimi".

I LOVE:
Nico Louisa - Nico is one of those *magical* names that SO and I agree on.
Soren Thatcher - Soren is on my short list. I love Danish names, being 1/2 Danish myself. It's original enough to be sure he wouldn't be one of 30 Sorens, but also easy to pronounce. I could never use Thatcher, though, because our last name ends in -er.
Beckett Thomas - I'm a HUGE Beckett fan, I'm just afraid of how popular it'll be when I'm ready to have kids.

I HATE:
Esther Susannah - Nothing about the name in particular, more of a bad association. But, damn is it a bad one...

Most of the others I'm neutral on or I like, but not enough to put on my own list.
