Kay/May

Let me begin by saying I am not pregnant, but I'm thinking of possible names for any future daughters. I know Kayla/McKayla has been really played out, but I was thinking of going with a "Kay"-like fn to honor a friend who passed away. Also, I want May or a "May"-like name as a mn to honor a family member. Any suggestions? Would (for example) McKayla Maegan have too many "ay" sounds to flow nicely?

In olden times, a first letter of a name was often changed on the nickname. My point is that I think you could honour both the Kay person and May person with just one name. They are related names. The Kay trend is a bit tired, so I guess I'd suggest May over Kay. Another suggestion to avoid repetitiveness would be if you use one name to honour both, just use the first initial of the other person for the other name. I think that would suffice. For example: Karla Mae

One name I really think looks beautiful is Maeve (prn MAY-EVE or MAYV, i'm not sure)

Some ideas: (i'm just playing around)
Kadence Maeve
Kaylee Maeve
Kacey Maeve
Kaya Maeve
Kiah Maeve
Kaida Maeve

Kaylee May
McKayla May

might be a sweet go between(?)

McKayla Maegan (love the spellings btw) has too many syllables in the same family for me. It really leaves me tongue tied.

kaylee is really overdone right now, also. we named our daughter Kayleigh James after my mom (kay), his mom (leigh), and both grandpas, my brother, and my fiance (james). we thought it was so unique 5 years ago but now there are like 10 kaylee/kayleigh/kalee's in her preschool. luckily she goes by "jimi" but it still chaps my ass that i picked a trendy name. i feel like everytime someone hears that i named her that, i have to explain and be like, "um, no...i have a reason i used that name...not because it was popular".

good luck..we're having a hell of a time coming up with a name for this girlie, due in july.

There is a character in Bridge to Terabithia named May Belle. I really like it. :)

You could even do Katie. Katie Mae is an idea. Or even Katherine and call her Katie. Just an idea! :)

I just realised I've not seen McKayla. It grates on me and it is way too trendy. I know I said I haven't seen it, but it has all the trendy name characteristics. If you want to do something like that name, I would REALLY suggest thinking about Michaela. I think it'd be 1000x better and less 'played out'.

Although I don't love the name Maegan, I think Mikayla Maegan sounds great. The sounds are fine.
