What is your guys stance on sibling initial matching?

Example:
John Clifton
Julianne Chloe
Jacob Christopher

It's a little too cutesy for my taste....

I think it all depends. If it seems like you're stretching to find a name to go with the theme, then it's annoying.

Two of my favorite girl names are Adelaide and Adrienne and I plan to use them if I have girls in the future.
But, the two A's would have a big brother L, so it doesn't really fit the template.

My husband and my 2 yr old have the same initials, but it wasn't really planned

Not the same thing or anything, but we seem to have a thing for vowel names.. lol. Our son is Owen and we like Evan [boy] and Avery [girl] for future sib. names.

Me and my sister had the same initials till she got married - SLC. Now she is SLR and I'm still SLC.

So I like it, lol. We both always did and we are told that it was unintentional - just one of those things they realized.

I don't think it's that bad, as long as you don't leave one kid out. My mom brother and I all have the initials JV, which never really bothered me.

I always think of that family that ends up on Discovery Health with the 15 kids, where they ran out of J names and ended up calling a daughter Jinger. (*cringe*) Or of Bill Cosby's kids Ensa and Ennis, because he was using all E names.

I guess it's okay if you're SURE you and your spouse agree on enough same-initial names to cover as many kids as you're likely to have, but it's still not really my taste,

I'm a Jane and my brother's a Joe. My mum jokes it made it cheaper to buy name tapes for our uniforms. But in reality they chose my name because they liked it (I'm the eldest), and Joe was the name of both great-grandfathers, and my father's middle name.
If it's the only reason to choose a name, it's a bad reason. If it's a coincidence, it's fine.

Not as annoying as naming your kids in alphabetical order. I've known a few families who do that.
Everyone in my husbands family except the mom is a J, and that includes cousins, aunts, uncles, heck, even a good number of inlaws. We use the middle initials to mark cups, etc. I'm not sure what you would do if all three initials were the same.
However, I have a friend who married a man with the same initials, and in that case I could see it being kinda cool....but for heaven's sakes only if you were having a few kids and didn't have to start making up names.
Me, I'll never have a Julia even though I like the name because I already have 3 Js in the immediate family and that's enough!

I think it's really annoying when done on purpose, and nauseatingly cutesy. It's different if your two favorite names happen to be Catherine and Charles and you use both. It's when people start limiting their choices on purpose to make an annoying theme that bugs me. It's also really, really tired. I am so sick of seeing families that must have all J names or all K names.

I love it. I used to hate it, until I realized that all my favorite names for boys start with As and for girls with Ss, so I gave in, and all my children will have to annoy the hell out of everyone else with their matching names.

I don't see it as a bad thing whatsoever, as long as individually, as well as together, the names sound good to you.

It's the least annoying of any matchy trend out there (except maybe for same meaning-different language). It's pretty subtle, especially if someone went by a nickname or their middle name.

I agree with screaming_pink though - trying too hard makes it annoying.

I don't mind if it works well. I love A names so I might end up with Adeline and Anastasia or something. But it gets to be too much for me when it's Brandie and Brandon (as it was on Wife Swap this week.)

Ha, no - it's even worse! Jinger was one of the girls in the middle. They had at least one more girl after her called Johanna. Plus, I think, out of their sixteen kids, only six of them were girls, so it's not like they had a shortage of J names for girls...

It's the twins that are called Jeremiah and Jedidiah that bother me the most in that family.

I dunno if people even notice. I'm MCB and my brother is JCB. I always noticed it and thought it was neat, but not weird. But, of course our last names are going to match! I do know I cared more about my initials when I was little and might've been sore that I had to share.

I always think that's weird when all but one matches. I think people need to realize their tastes may change if they're having more than one or two children. Of course, with the sibset you listed, three of them has -ie endings as well.

We didn't set that great an example ourselves, though-- our cats' names are Persephone, Inanna, Zeus, aaaand.. Nibbler. The first two are sisters and their names were chosen to compliment each other and it just went from there. Of course, Niblonians are a god-like race.

My boyfriend and I have completely different naming schemes when it comes to our pets. He likes to name things Crash and Zeus. I named his snake Mr. Bunny, and I had the name Norm Chompsky picked out for the turtle we ended up not getting.

We agree, though, that kreatyv names are teh suck.
