Shelby? I had a best friend named Shelby who was a female. I also went to school with a boy named that as well. And then today at work there was a male dog named that. I always thought more female up intil recently...WDYT

I agree... although I see it as masculine despite only knowing of one female wiht this name and no males. It also reminds me of Shelbyville on The Simpsons.

My husband's name is Shelby.
If you check out Behind the Name, you can see that it was really popular for males starting in 1900. It wasn't hardly used at all for females until the 1930s. Just another male name gone female.

Shelby is my aunts [girl] dog AND my dads [girl] dog lol so i've always thought of it as a dogs name ... to me its kinda weird to hear it on a person.
