Aubrey

What are your thoughts?

A couple of ours had their baby on Saturday and named her Aubrey. I personally think it sucks since I know two old men with that name.

wasn't there a post on aubrey a few posts back? i agree with you, it's an old man's name, not a girl's name!

I'm neutral on it. I think of it as more of a girl name, but that's only because I've only ever met one Aubey and it was a chick. :)

i went back to try and find it for you but couldn't. sorry! i know there was a post on it a while back, though.

btw, i think your little boy is adorable! we have a friend in common (jenniferdunn) and i always see your icons of him when you comment on her posts :)

I never knew it was a male name. I always thought it was female. Hmmm. I guess since I don't have that bias I like it. It's actually one of my favorite names for a girl.

I don't like Aubrey for a girl.

Audrey, however, is nice.

I never knew that was a (old) man name. I've only known girls with the name. It sounds really feminine to me but maybe that's just because I've only known girls.

I knew an Aubrey and she was a bitch, lol. Eh. I knew an Audree who was insane, but that's at least better for me.

Eh the girl I know named Aubrey is a huge bitch so that weighs a lot on the name. Your mood icon is totally precious though!

i'm an aubrey and i seriously think of my name as that of an old man (and uh, i'm a young woman, LOL) so i don't think too highly of it but i've heard it being increasingly popular on baby girls so whatever. ;)

I've NEVER heard of Aubrey as a guy's name, I've only known girls with it. But I've never really liked it. I like Audrey better, and I don't even like Audrey THAT much. Just not my style.

Kelly, Ashley and Leslie used to be male names too.

I'm an Aubrey :)
so I think of it as a girls' name.
Though, my fiance has a good guy friend named Aubrey. I try to make him call the boy-Aubrey by his last name because even after 3 and a half years it's still really weird when we all hang out together and Ben is calling us both Aubrey and we never know which one of us he's addressing!

But I like my name. Oh and my nickname among my friends is Aubs I wonder if the old men have the same nick name too lol

I think it's a man's name. When I hear it on girls I automatically think the parents liked "Audrey" and used this because they wanted to be a bit different or something...but it sounds stupid to me on a girl. All the Aubreys I know are male and over 40.

I have never met anyone with this name before, and hadn't even heard of it before I started visiting this community.

So I have no connotations with it, but it sounds feminine to me, because it's so similar to Audrey... but also not surprising that it could be an old man name, because some old-fashioned mens names now sound like girls names because of the way people name girls these days...

I know it was originally a guy's name but I still like it on girls too. generally speaking, I like the name.

I like it, but it always sounds like a bastardization of Audrey, which I don't like that much.

I really like the name Aubrey, but I'm biased, because it's my neice's name :)

I know old men named Aubrey too, so it is insane on little girls to me.

Audrey is nicer and Audrey Hepburn is a pretty awesome namesake.

Exactly. People think Aubrey is good for girls because it sounds like Audrey. No.
