A friend's neice is competing in a local baby beauty contest (not sure what to call it) and I thought the names of all the babies competing were...interesting. Some of them I really like and others are just...interesting.

Baylor just sounds ilke someone couldn't decide between Bailey and Taylor.

It looks like a very typical selection of kids born around now

I totally agree - I'd never have guessed it was an "real" name rather than something made-up and trendy!

Baylor ()

It's also the name of the largest medical conglomerate around Dallas - http://www.bcm.edu/

There's a Baylor medical facility in practically every town and suburb around here.

Everyone would think the boy was named after the hospitals.

I like:
Damien
Olivia
Thomas
Eve

I hate when names are spelt wrongly - Madisen, Alexsandra, Tabbitha, Ciaira, Brooklin, Kaydence, Izabella! Come on!

Baylor? Aarahlynn? Is that a typo for Sarahlynn? Both are awful and sound made up.

Kaydence makes me ill. I wonder if people who are using the name even know what the WORD "cadence" (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cadence) means! In my high school music theory class, when we were learning about cadences, I thought the word sounded so pretty, and would be such a pretty name for a little girl. Until a couple years later when I realized people were actually using it and being morons about it.

Most of the time I don't like when people use words (like Cadence) as names, but I hate it when they spell them wrong! I guess some people might not know what a cadence is but there's no excuse for names like Ryver, Foxx, Fayth...

I only like Damien, Charlie, and Drake.

Some of these make me seriously want to gag.

I recently really like the name Nadia. I was looking up names on babynames.com about a week or so ago, because I was scared that I might be pregnant (which would have been awful). I always thought I had my girl name picked out (Hannah Margaret), but I started to think maybe I didn't. The names that really stuck out at that point were Nadia and Mabel. Two names I otherwise never would have thought of. *shrugs* On my list now...

Back to this list... People who spell things wrong just to be "cute" need to be beaten with sticks.
