I like Anya. Not so big on Ania, I'd pronounce it Ahn-ee'ya

Yeah, I'd go with Anja or Anya. I would say Ania Ahn-eye-uh. I like Anna too, but I think it would be pronounced just as An-na all the time.

Anna: definitely not with that spelling. The double "n" makes it a short A sound... Ana would be a better spelling for "ah-na"

Ania: I would pronounce it uh-NIE-uh the first time i read it but I could probably think of it as ahn-ya if I was corrected, but I agree that Anja or Anya are better

Very nice names tho

IAWTC. I think Ana would be the better spelling to make it sound like ah-na. Which I love, by the way.

I think that if you want Ah-na then you should spell it Ana.

I don't like Ana (Ah-nuh) or Anna (An-uh). Ania is okay but should be spelled Anya.

anna can be pronounced as "ah-nya," too. my boyfriend is russian and a friend of his has a daughter named anna, but they pronounce it both ways - like "anna" for her english name and "ah-nya" for her russian name.

but i agree that if you want it to be pronounced "ah-nya," spell it anya.

I think that "ah-nya" is actually a diminutive of Anna (much in the way that someone named Katerina might be called Katia). I have a friend who is Russian, and her name is pronounced "anna" in both English and Russian, but she is commonly called Anya. (Another example would be Maria/Masha).

I like Anna, but would pronounce it as "an-nuh" and not "ah-na".

To me. Ana is ah-na, and Anya is, well, Anya. I like both, but not the spelling Ania.

I wouldn't pronounce Ania that way if I saw it. Like others have said Anya would be a lot better. And for the record, I adore that name.
