I just applied for a job, for which the contact person was named Emina. Has anyone ever heard of this name? I like the names Emma/Emily and their variations...but personally, this particular name makes me think "enema." :-/

Nope. It was definitely Emina.

Maybe it's a variation of Amena? If it's a religious name, though, you wouldn't think they'd change it...hmm. Oh well.

It's sort of a hard name to wrap your tongue around.

Emina is indeed a version of Amena, it is a common spelling in Bosnia. It was what I wanted to name my baby, despite the "enema" sound, which would definatly become a school-yard taunt in English speaking countries! My kid escaped, though, as I just found out it is going to be a boy.
