(no subject)

my boyfriend wants to name our daughter Janiyah (ja-nye-ah)and i agreed to let him name her (this is his first child) but i am not really feeling the name. i still don't have a middle name picked out yet. i am 27w3d.

Where did he come up with the name?

Honestly, I don't like it.

You may have told him he could pick the name, but you still should have a name you both agree with. Tell him you don't like it.

i'd try for a middle name if you don't like it; who wants to name their child something that isn't even a compromise name?

Horrible. It reminds me of Shania only worse.

my half sister's name is Jonnia, pronounced pretty much the same.

opps, I missed the "nye" part in there. Hers is pronounced Ja-knee-ah

ick... it reminds me of pancakes...

Maybe suggest some names with similar sounds...? My boyfriend is OBSESSED with the name "Ayla"... I've found that most guys like really feminine sounding girls names, usually ending in a "a" sound...

I don't like it. I think it sounds made up...
You could use it as a middle name, but if you really don't like it, don't use it. Find a name that you both love.

I would avoid it if for no other reason than that you are going to have to include the pronunciation every time you write it, and your poor little girl will have to explain to people how to say her name for her entire life.

I like it, though remember - she'll have this name for the rest of her life, and if you don't like it now, chances are you most likely won't end up liking it when the baby does come...I'd say pick up a baby book and hunt down names you really enjoy and have hime mull them over for the next few months.
By the time the baby comes, you could just as easily say "she just doesn't look like a Janiyah - how about ____?" and see what his reaction is.

I'm feeling the name...feeling pretty horrified by Janiyah!

It's like the Kr8etyve, Uneeque version of Jenny! Awfuliyah!

i like it but i hate the spelling. It doesnt look pronouncable. i think if you change the spelling to something less complicated it will look alot nicer.

Oh no, that name looks and sounds really trashy.

Not my taste at all, sorry. If you're set on it, I like the combos:

Janiyah Elise
Janiyah Michelle
Janiyah Rachel
Janiyah Louise

I don't like Janiyah. I'd def give her a classy middle name... I think Janiyah Sarah sounds nice or some other suggestions:

Janiyah Claire
Janiyah Marie
Janiyah Hazel
Janiyah Lauren
