I was listening to the radio and there was an article about a 17 year old boy in georgia who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for having oral sex  with a 16 year old girl.

His lawyer: BJ  Bernstein.

No she was consenting and she was performing on him. It's a Georgia law from what I could understand.

16 is the age of consent in GA so she must have been 15 when it happened and he 16 or older. most likely the girl's parents pressed charges

But because of an archaic Georgia law, it was a misdemeanor for teenagers less than three years apart to have sexual intercourse, but a felony for the same kids to have oral sex.

That whole crime/law thing is beyond stupid to me; where I am (the UK) the age of consent for sex is 16. So I guess that would be stautory rape, but doubt anyone would loose sleep over it. The punishment is going way too overboard.
