I think I just came across the most illiterate-sounding name ever...

Taelyr

(Yes, her mother's a teenager...)

*brain explodes*

Oh, gross.

As a teenager myself, though, I'd like to reassure you that not all of us are illiterate. All of the names on my list are legitimately spelled. There is hope for the future. :D

That's awful.

Yes, I agree with the above comment.

However, I have come across many people my age who like names like, Laeticeaia, or Ahmburr, etc.
It's quite scary.

No, no I completely agree with you.
They want their child to be unique, which is understandable, but what they don't realise is that they're condemning their child to years of torture and teasing. :[

I saw a girl named Ambar once. It was just wrong.

That is awful. It barely even reads as Taylor anymore.

That reminds me of a girl on the show Next yesterday: Shayln. With no i between the l and n.

Urgh. There are no words.

Well, I say that, but there are. Taylor isn't a great first name on either sex - I'm not a fan of surnames-as-first-names - but particularly not on a girl. I saw the spelling Tayla once and thought that was bad enough...but Taelyr?

I wouldn't be shocked it she pronounced it Tyler all militantly like that girl in here last week all butt hurt over everyone telling her Bryanna was pronounced more like Brian that Brianne.

I really fear for my daughters generation at times.

I think what's even crappier then that name is your generalization.

yes, what exactly do you even mean?
all teenage parents give their kids stupid names? all teenagers can't spell?

apparently she didn't mean anything by it, I mean, after she realized that not everyone's okay with judgemental assholes. *eye roll*

Yes some teenagers give their kids stupid names. Some 20ish people give their kids stupid names. Some people in their 30s give their kids stupid names. Trying to assign it to just one group regardless of what 'your experiences' are is just stupid and offensive. I've seen it happen in all age groups, and if you're paying more attention when it happens to one group then that's probably what makes it 'your experiences'.

Generalizations based on age are just wrong, and young parents have enough to face that they don't need holier then thou wenches either judging their parenting abilities or their naming abilities or their intelligence just because they're young.

Appears some people can't accept that stereotypes exist for a reason. If stereotypes were 'rules' that'd be a different story completely. I didn't realise it was being a judgmental asshole to recognise tendencies. Haha. Don't worry about those people, they just need to get over themselves.

I'm gay and I certainly can recognise gay stereotypes without a problem. I don't fit them, but stereotypes are there because many people of a group act a certain way. Doesn't take much intelligence to understand that.

Yeah, I understand. I didn't think anything of your comment. I was alarmed that people were so quick to take offence. I guess that's the good ol' internet for you though.

Something tells me that xnaivetex is a teen mom who named her kid something preposterous. Defensive, much? College educated women don't GENERALLY give their kids dumb names. That doesn't mean that they never do, just that they know the idiocy of Taelyr Smith, M.D. Like it or not, names are rife with class issues. YOU are the ignorant one.

Yeah I've seen Taylah... but we don't pronounce the R here in australia anyway... I've also seen Kahlee as a variant of Carly.. same thing.
