The hubby and I are discussing names (as usual) though babies are not in the near future. You could say we're planners, hahaha. Anyways, we're looking for a Spanish MN for the name Villa. I figured a longer MN would be appropriate, though ending in -a would probably be a bad idea. WDYT?

Yeah, that was the trouble I was having. Its just because the feminine form of a word ends in -a. I had mentioned Luci to my hubby and he pronounces it "Lu-see-a" but I said thats wrong and pronounced it "Lu-chee-a". Do you know which one is the proper form?

In Spanish it would be Lu-see-uh, not chee. Maybe in Italian it would be Lu-chee-uh, but I don't know. I only know Spanish.

Villa makes me think the word "de" should follow. Villa de Luz or something like that since Villa means city or something. Is it even a Spanish name for a person?

Nope, Villa isnt even considered a name on the Social Security website, but its actually a family name for me. The hubby's mom is Spanish, and since the boy's name we have picked out uses his father's MN we thought it might be nice to have a Spanish MN for a girl. But Im not crazy about adding a "de" to any name, it seems tacky like apostrophese or something.

Hmmm....that is a pretty interesting Spanish name. I wonder what the MIL would think of it since the whole Spanish MN is "in honor" of her.

Its actually a family name and Im pretty sure its a last name at that. But I love it, and its very uncommon but has a lot of sentimental value.
I didnt realize that Leonor (Lenor/e?) had Hispanic undertones? But its a name Ive always loved regardless. Good idea!
