i have many sets of twins in my extended family, some of their names are:
Barry and Brian
Natalie and James
Emma and Megan
Hazel and Laura
Grace and Connor
Ruby and Rosie

What are your opinions on giving matching initials? (eg Barry and Brian) What about similar sounding names (Rub- EEE and Ros- EEE) I'm almost entirely convinced I will have twins. Feel free to critique some of the names I would call my twins.

Will most probably use:
Kenneth Daniel and Asher James (b-b)
Asher James and Alexis Caitlin (b-g)
Millani Isabel and Alexis Caitlin (g-g)

I don't mind matching initials (though if the first names are going to start with the same letter, I don't think that the middle names should), but rhyming names and names that are essentially the same (e.g. Alexander and Alexandra) really bug me.

I'd probably use:

Aidan Ryder and Lucas Holden (boy/boy)
Lucas Holden and Isabella Jane (boy/girl)
Isabella Jane and Sofia Gabrielle (girl/girl)

I really like the sets you posted, although I am not sure about Millani.

I think matching (first and middle) initials, rhyming names, and different versions of the same name are stupid. It stops being remotely cute after 2 seconds.

I'm also a twin, and get really mad when people say things like "Oh, why don't you have matching names!" or "Your mom should've dressed you alike!" So, I'm on one end of the usual twin spectrum: you either like that stuff or you don't. Heh.

I LOVE Hazel and Laura! Both of those are on my list and I love that they're not "matchy." I really don't like matching initials or rhyming/smiliar sounding names for twins.

My fiance has alot of twins in his family, as do I. But his family went with the matchy-matchy thing.

I can only recall two sets of names- Carla-Marla & Lavonne-Lavonda

My grandmother and her identical twin were Jane and Janet. Great-Aunt Janet then went on to name her daughter Mary Jane - I think that was insane. Matching first initials, or more subtle matching, is okay with me. For example, my two sisters and I all have names ending in "a," which I think is kind of neat.

I don't *mind* matching initials, but if I could do it all over again with my twins, I wouldn't (I was pressured into doing it from my husband's family..long story).
By the way, my twins' names are Michael Douglas Jr and Madison Danielle.(b-g)
As for the similar sounding names, I would not do it. I think it would just cause a lot of confusion.
I love Asher and Alexis! :D

I think twins should be named exactly the same way as siblings who don't share a birthday. They already have more in common than other siblings by being the same age, they don't need to match names too.

Out of those sets I REALLY like Natalie and James, and Hazel and Laura.

Ruby and Rosie are very nice separately but just a bit too cute for my tastes, and definitely not together.

I looove same sounding and same initial names for, not only twins, but for siblings too(maybe not same sounding names for those that are not twins). I just have a thing for it, can't remember where or why it started.

I hate to reply to my own comment but I as I read other comments I realized that I hadn't added that if I gave twins the same first initial then give them different middle names. Maybe they'll decide to go by that instead of their actual name and not be so alike to her/his brother/sister.
