My picks for names....

I posted here before and most didn't like my names but oh well. It's getting down to the wire and I still cannot decide at all. So here is my revised list and my opinions both good and bad of each name. Try not to be too harsh and if you see these names and think I may like something I've not thought of throw it in by all means. I have 24 days until my due date and we're still calling him "Prototype-A"

Boy's names: So far we're sticking with Amar for the middle name.

Desmond
My husband's pick. It's ok I guess. Personally I wanted something with a bit more personality and since he did pick the middle name already I had wanted to pick the first name. I can nickname him Dez though which is kinda cool.

Lucian
I like this name it sounds cool. Only problem is that I fear he would be nicknamed Lou or something and that I don't like so much. It's my alternative to Lucius since everyone said "luscious" when I said the name.

Jonas
I'm a dork. There is a cartoon on Adult Swim called Venture Brothers and one of the characters names is Jonas Venture. I love the name Jonas. My problem is that he may get called JoJo or something which I don't like, and it's also a bible name which I'm trying to stay away from.

Orion
He could go by Rion if he hates Orion and since if it was a girl her name would have been Nova I thought Orion is in the same 'space' category. But no matter how hard I try I cannot wrap my head around saying Orion as a name on a daily basis.

My other alternative is: Desmond Quinn
Yes I know Quinn could also be a girl's name but honestly I had not heard that until last time I posted names to this board.

i dislike desmond the most - i like more unusual names so your other three are cute. not sure which one i like best, though. maybe orion. i really like the middle name quinn, too, but i'd personally use it for a girl and not a boy. it's more unisex than most names, though.

That's funny most like Desmond the best and think the rest are "stupid or gross" but to each their own I guess.

I do like Orion but I cannot seem to call him that while he's in there. Who knows. I think we're going to wait until he comes out to say for sure his name but I'm just have real trouble picking something that I like that is not tooooo crazy.

When I read Jonas I immediately thought of it as a biblical name. I think of Quinn as much more a male name than a female name, also.

See and that's not what I'm going for which is why I took it off my list. I also took Zachary and Isaac off my list for the same reason.

And good last time I posted I got a lot of "Quinn is a girl's name" and felt bad I don't want to screw the kid up toooo much but I also figure he can take on his own nickname if he wishes at a later date assuming he hates his name that much.

Yah....it does sound cool together. Amar is sanskrit for 'immortal' which I just think is so cool. My husband's middle name is Amir which is Arabic for 'prince' and we had wanted to go with something similar.

Have you considered Jonah? I prefer that to Jonas; still, Jonas is a decent name...

Thanks! That's so cool you like Orion last time I posted that everyone hated it so much I felt bad. I personally think it's a cool name and again he can go by Rion if he wants.

Jonah is even more biblical than Jonas and due to my own personal issues I just don't want a name from the bible which by the way....is really really hard to do.

Ditto :) I love Jonas and I love Lucien as well. Really not a fan of Desmond. Quinn is...meh. I don't hate it. I kinda like it I guess. Orion is certainly unusual! I'm not sure how I feel about it but I think if I got used to it I could get to like it a lot.

Orion Quinn actually sounds rather good to me

Quinn may be a little too short, one syllable names don't sit well with me [but my brother is Max & that's fine with me so i can't hate them too much]
Orion is ace, I love it. It's far cooler than Ryan.
I really like Oren- it's like Orion just without the 'eye' sound in the middle oh-run(oh like the middle of coffee]

Lucien really makes me cringe, i'm not sure why. I LOVE Lucas though.

Lucas is in the top 100 which I'm staying away from. Actually right now I'd be happy to stay away from the top 50 but that's just me. Lucien is different people either love it or hate it.

I'm really surprised that so many are saying they like Orion I totally thought I was going to get slack for that one - I also didn't put it on my list.

I thought following this sentence you were going to say your favourite names were Nevaeh-Hevynlee and McMadysyn.. in which case I'd be like... well sorry mate can't help you there. I'm surprised that those names weren't well received last time - I think they're great names, although they're not exactly my personal style they're very decent and acceptable.

My favourite is probably Lucien, and maybe Jonas... Desmond sounds a bit old and dusty to me, and Orion is a bit too cosmic... but they're not actually bad either.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jonas Amar ... very cute! And it's strong sounding too.

As a parent you could just correct people who try to nickname him (until he's old enough to decide if he likes it himself!) My mother always called me Jessica and corrected people who called me Jess or Jessie. Everyone caught on easily. As I got older I chose my own nickname (Jess)

Thanks! Jonas Amar does sound good. I just don't think in the end I could go with a name from the bible. This is for both silly and personal reasons one of which is that every time I call my family I get a story from the bible of a good name.....

I shall let everyone what I end up picking...I cannot believe it's so close and I still don't have anything for sure.

Then again I notice your icon says Damien - that is my all time favorite name but the hubby said no which I am very sad. Then again it's my best friend from high schools name and I think he feels odd naming him after someone he's never met. I love it though.....very good name.

i'm really torn when it comes to lucian. i love how it looks, but i'm not too sure about the pronounciation. either way, another name you may like is luca, which is similar. i love luca and i think luca amar sounds nice. :]

The only problem I have with this name is that until recently I only thought of it as a girl's name.

There's this song and I always heard it:

And I always associate that song with that name. I do like the name though it could be an alternative to Lucien. Thanks for the idea ;)

Orion and Jonas are good, different names without being yoo-neek. I've known one of each and they were both very sweet, smart, friendly kids.

I *love* the name Lucien/Lucian. If you fear the nickname Lou, just be firm about it. :) Luke is always a much nicer nn alternative. I have a distant relative named Lucien and he goes by Luke sometimes.
My name is *very* nickname-able but my mother always stopped people from calling me nicks as a kid by saying, "If I wanted to call her that, I'd have named her that!" Thank goodness because I *hate* the nicknames but love my real name.

Love Orion and Jonas!!! Both very good name. I wouldn't worry too much about the biblical thing. It wasn't the fisrt thing I thought of. Lucian is a good name, but I agree with the Lou comment... It's such a bland nickname next to such a great first name. It's kind of ick. Desmond isn't horrible, but it's definitely kind of flat.

I prefer Quinn over Amar for a middle name. I've never really thought of Quinn as a girls name, I think it looks better on a boy.

The biblical thing is just a personal beef - if it were not for the fact that every time I call 'home' I get more bible names that would be good I don't think I would care nearly as much but the more they push the more I just am turned off by them I guess.

I have to say I'm surprised people like Orion I love it personally but I got too many nasty comments from it. Glad people on here seem to be liking the names now I just need to pick one and stick with it!

I quite like Lucian. You could always call him Luc (like Luke). I know it doesn't start with that sound but its always a possiblity. We were considering Lucien (the French spelling) and maybe call him Luc.
