Long time no post... As I was having my yearly ramble around the ONS (Office of National Statistics) I saw the latest news on the hottest names of 2006 in the UK - http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=184

I like the name Olivia...but Ruby a fast climber? Yuck. Also quite disappointed with the number of parents who have jumped on the reality TV bandwaggon: Shayne and Preston are both horrid names, to my mind.

Britney Spears' youngest, Jayden has risen 16 places to number 68.

Can they really blame that on Spears, though? The baby was only born in September, and the -aden names have been climbing at least all year. Or am I wrong?

Hmmm. Good point. It might be that people were introduced to the name via the medium of albert square and found that they liked it. Didn't the name Aleesha climb loads of places after someone in Coronation Street called their kid that name?
