I was just reminded of a name (my name) that I heard spelled ridiculously.
My name is still fairly unique, so everytime I hear someone say it, my ears perk up, and when I find out it's another person with my name I ask them how to spell it. This girl (probably 15 or 16) was with her mom, so I asked her, and she said:

"Well, when I was in the hospital having her, I didn't know how to spell it, so I just spelled it the way it sounded: K-e-a-r-s-t-i-n."

In the back of my mind, I was just like, "Wooooow." And nodded my head.

Ewww on that spelling. I prefer the standard spelling Kiersten.

You'd think that if you didn't know how to spell the name you wanted to name your child, you'd either wait until you found a baby name book, or picked a different name!

P.S- I love that name. How do you spell it?

I like both spellings. But I really like yours. At some point, I remember hearing a character on a television show named Kirsten who pronounced it "Kurr-sten" and since then, I've been trying to figure out how to spell it properly so it would be pronounced properly.

LOL, that's funny. Although I can understand the whole "forgetting" thing. When my mom had me, she wanted my middle name to be Elyse, but she was so tired when they asked her what she wanted my name to be, she told them it was Alise. I love it as Alise WAY better than Elyse, and I've never met anyone with the same spelling I have.

I know a girl named Alise and she has to spell her name as often as I do (my name is Elise)

I like that spelling. Better than Kiersten actually. I like the name, but the something about how Kiersten looks has always bugged me. (no offense!)

Ditto. It's one of those names that gets mangled, and I hate the Kirsten = kur-sten phenomenon. Kirsten is a lovely name, kursten, not so much.

That's ugly. It reminds me of ears (and ear wax). Kiersten is so much nicer. You'd have thought that she'd want to find out how it was spelled before naming her daughter that...
