Don't take the popularity of the name into account...
Sophie or Sophia?

Why?

Sophia.

Perhaps Sophie used as a nickname for it.

Sophia - more pretty, less cute. And one of the things I like best about it is the meaning, and I lose that association with just Sophie.

Sophia.

It's much prettier, and cuter. Sophie seems more like a nickname.

Sophia.
I loved this name, but alas another boy :)

Sophie seems too immature. Great for a nickname tho.

Sophia. I have a harder time picturing an adult with the name Sophie than I do Sophia...but I can see both as a child.

And I gotta throw out the Sophia Petrillo icon...

Sophia, because it sounds fuller. Sophie is a nickname that you can still use while giving the girl a fuller name to fall back on.

Sophia, because she can also be called Sophie as a nickname.

I like Sophia.....because for some reason I feel like sophie just doesn't sound complete.

Sophia. Sophie sometimes sounds a little harsh.

Sophia... Sophie just doesn't seem a full name to me. Family at daycare is naming their new daughter (due in feb) Sophie Kay.. and it bothers me... just doesnt' seem to end the name.

Sophie, the happy ending gives it a modern feel.

sophia, because my friend is called 'sophie' and now that she is older calls herself 'sofia' and wishes she'd been named that. that might say something? i don't know. i think it's a lot more international, sophie is just very plain to me.

Sophia. I don't like using nicknames instead of full names.

SOPHIA. Sophie sounds really cute for a five year old but other than that, not so much.

Sophia.
Sophie just seems like a nickname, and of course choosing the longer form gives the option of using the shorter form as a nickname. :)

i work in a school with 4& 5 year olds and we have 1 Sophie and 2 Sophia's (one is spelt Sofia and the other Sophya).
I prefer Sophia, but i don't think that the name Sophie is too babyish as other people say it is.
I love both of these names though.

My grandmother's name is Sophie - we've been calling her that for as long as we've known her...just recently we discovered that her name as it appears on the birth certificate is Sophia. I personally like Sophie, though sophia is nice too.

Sophia. I'm fine with Sophie as a nickname for Sophia, but I don't like Sophie as its own name. It's too incomplete, IMO.

Sophia gives you the best of both worlds... because she can still be called Sophie too sometimes. I love the meaning of this name
