Dilemma?

Let me give you a little backstory to prep you for whats to come,..

My mother married into a family and I was adopted by her husband, I love him, he's my dad and we all treat it that way. My dad has a brother who is NOT married but has been dating someone for pry 7-8 years. His girlfriend has kids from a prev. marriage and those kids have a father of their own, and it is not treated as though my dad's brother is her father in anyway. This girlfriend/her kids are not rly treated as part of the family since they aren't married or anything.

So this daughter who is not related to this family, is having a daughter and naming her Cora Joanne. Thats a fine name, however I think it odd that she has chosen to name her daughter after her mom's boyfriends grandma and mother?

Am I nuts or what?

even tho she may have a 'real' father, maybe she feels more of a connection to the boyfriends family. :) or maybe she just really likes the names and they were just the inspiration, and she's not actually naming her child after them! *shrug* :)

I think you might be over-reacting to this.. but somehow I have a feeling that there's so much more to this story that you are leaving out! :)

Maybe she just likes the name? Or maybe she feels like she has a connection with the people?

Unless she's useing the name you planned on using, I would just forget about it cuz it sounds like a silly thing to worry about!

Eh, I'm with you. If the situation is just as you describe-- your uncle's gf and kids arent really treated as family (not just by you guys, but by your grandparents and great-grandparents)-- then it's weird. But, you did say they've been together for 7 or 8 years and it might just be that those women have been very influential in her life and she wants to honor them.

Are you sure she actually did it on purpose? What if she has people in her family with those names, or she just likes them?
