Can Lis be a nickname for Alyssa. I don't like the nickname spelt Lys, but I don't like the full version spelt Alissa :/

The nickname probably won't be used all that often, but I just need other opinions on if the switching between spellings is too weird.

*coughs* It's for a book character, not a real person, so yes, the spelling really does matter.

my niece alyssa gets lis all the time, though i don't think she actually ever writes it down so i don't know if it's lys or lis, my guess would be lys, but it's just something, a quick nickname, that people call her in passing.

Yeah sure, I know an Alissa nn Lis. (I know the spelling because it's though a forum)

Lys would be a fine spelling, it's logical considering the spelling of the name.

My name is Alyssa and I get called Lyss by my parents and also Lyssa or Alyss. I suppose Lis could work fine too.

My name is Alissa and the people closest to me use Lis or Lissa a lot. Seems Lys or Lyssa would be fine, too. But if I were reading a book and knew the character's name was "Alyssa", I would definitely pick up on and think it was odd that people called her "Lis" spelled with an "i".
