What do you all think of the name Susan?

It's one of those names that I've always known existed, but never thought anything of until it just suddenly stood out to me yesterday. I had never noticed it much before.

I like it. It's not very common yet it's classic and I think it's pretty.

It's very common for women aged 35-50 I think. But not for babies so she'd be the only Susan in her class I'm sure.

It's a nice name, a little too common for me. At least it's common where I grew up.

My mother (born in 1950) is a Susan - it was one of the most popular names at the time, I believe. I was just on the phone to her and she told me that when she was at school there were 4 Susans and 7 Lindas in her class!

I went to school with a Susan (known as Susie) - she'd be 27 by now. I don't know of any other young people called Susan at all.

Well, to be fair, most of the Susans I know go by Suzie (or however they spell it). This is when I was growing up, I don't know any kids or babies named Susan.

It's alright to be. It's a good name across different age groups which is a plus, although Susie might be better when she is super young.

I like it. It actually LOOKS very pretty written out, I think. I think it would be awesome for all ages and Susie is a cute nn for a little girl.

Same here, but I think I just have bad associations with the name. Susannah is okay though, because of Susannah Simon from The Mediator series.

I think of Susannah from The Dark Tower series :)

I really like Susie, and Susannah is ok. Susan doesn't appeal much to me though.

Doesn't really appeal to me. Could be because I have an aunt called Susie. Her name is Suzette. Oh, and it's not appealing because she's a bitch.

I like it a little, it reminds me of people born in the 50's and 60's though. I really like Susie as a nickname though.

I like it! I know a younger Susan, and she wears it well. =)
I suggested it to SO for my youngest, and he said, "I'd call her Susie-Q" and I was like, "aww, that's cute!" And he was like, "Yeah, that is cute, huh?" And then.. I remembered it's my ex-MIL's name. Blech.
Anyway.. I like it.

I like it a lot. I'm thinking of using that or Suzanne for a daughter if I ever have one.
I'd like to name a daughter after my mom but she hates her first name. Her middle name is Sue but I'd like something a bit longer for a first name.

I always loved it, until I got to college where one of my dormmates was named Susan. She was a slut with a severe drinking problem, who was quickly christened 'Boozin Susan'.

Not that that story is really relevant, I just find it funny. And I find the name abhorrent now.

I love it, my best friend's name is Susan.

The first thing I think of is Susan from The Chronicles of Narnia and she's my least favorite character so it doesn't make me too fond of the name. =\
