My sister is pregnant, and still has a long way to go, but is already picking out baby names.

For a boy, she likes Henry Philip, since those are the middle names of her father in law and our father, respectively.

My gauge for popularity of names has been off lately, but it seems that Henry's been having an upswing recently.

For a girl, she currently likes Nora Elisabeth. Elisabeth with an 's' because that's how our mother spells it.

I think Nora's an extremely pretty name. Granted, I'm biased since it's my little sisters name. I kinda like Elisabeth with the "s."

Nora Elisabeth is okay. I associate Nora with two recent TV characters.

Henry is one of my most hated named. Philip is pretentious to me.

I LOVE the name Henry. I probably wouldn't use it because it doens't fit in well with my other names and I don't like any of the nicknames for it, but I do absolutely adore that name. I have heard a few people using it lately, but the name is still relatively "unique" while still being traditional, if you know what I mean. It's not THAT popular and even with it's recent resurgance, it's unlikely that he'd run into another Henry in one of his classes when he starts school. Henry Philip has a really nice ring to it and I love the connection the name has.

Nora Elisabeth is a great name, too. Nora's cute for a little girl but grown-up enough that she'd able to fit in as a lawyer or doctor someday without people rolling their eyes and thinking "wtf?" And although I don't usually like when names differ from traditional spellings, I prefer Elisabeth with an S to Elizabeth with a Z. It just flows better in my opinion :).

As others have said, Nora sounds a little like a little girl's name - maybe Eleanor or another longer name that it could be derived from?

I don't like Henry, but I LOVE Nora. I don't think it sounds too young at all. It works for young girls and older women. Great name.

I think both are nice choices. Both are names getting more recognition lately, but they are not at risk of being overused or too common, not yet anyway.
