For the past few days, I've been entertaining thoughts about the names Gretchen and Giselle. Not together, but possibly as names for future daughters. I quite like the combination Willow Gretchen.
I also like Helmi Heather (Helmi meaning pearl in Finnish and it's one of my great great aunt's names). My bf doesn't like Helmi though.
He does like Willow and Heather. Don't know his opinion on Gretchen and Giselle.
What are your opinions?

Heather is too 80's reject for me, I've never seen the appeal. I don't really have an opinion on Helmi, i don't like it but I don't absolutely hate it either. Next to Gretchen anything looks good.

Date: 2006-12-12 02:51 pm (UTC)This is one of the ugliest names out there, at least for English speakers. If one is German and is used to the diminutive -chen ending and pronounces it the German way, then ok, but in English it's absolutely hideous. Sounds like you're spitting up a hairball.

Date: 2006-12-12 04:58 pm (UTC)Helmi - not too familiar with it, but I don't hate it. Heather doesn't work most of the time for me... I like it on people like Heather O'Rourke, but when I meet Heathers around my age, it doesn't seem to fit correctly.
