Okay, an incident that as soon as it happened my first thought was I HAVE TO POST THIS TO BABYNAMES!!:

Today I was at work and a lady bought two candybars. I asked if she wanted a bag and she said no, her daughters were going to eat them right now. Then she turned around to her little girls and held out the candy to them and said..."Here's yours Madison, and here's Mackenzie's."

I don't mind Mackenzie minus its popularity, but Madison = blech. I know a 7-year-old Madysen.

Such a typical sibset these days.

You might want to get your ears instead. That way you don't hear it when they get called on the playground.

Haha I don't know why I always joked about sisters with those names, it is actually not really surprising that someone would do that.

At least you only heard the names - lets not wonder about how they were spelled.

wow... My twin cousins who were born 7 years ago at the begining of the popularity trend are named Mackenzie Jo and Mikayla Jordan. We call them Kenzie and Kayla for short and interchangably bc its so hard to not mix them up!

Mackenzie's actually kind of cute. I've never met anyone named that.
But Madison? Excuse me while I vomit up my breakfast.

Well... my name is Mackenzie. I turn 21 in a few days. I like my name. I HATE the ridiculous surge in popularity and accompanying trendiness that's been going on the last few years. Whenever I hear about stuff like this (Madison and Mackenzie sibsets.. so keeuuuute! but only if you spell it Mukinzee and Madysynne!), I want to just... I don't know. strangle someone. It sounds so trashy!

And I hate the name Madison. So much. At least Mackenzie's subtle about having a "son of" in it, and it's a common lastname so you could be naming your kid after someone. The only Madison lastname I can think of? The president of the US. 200 years ago. Madison just embodies the whole terrible weird-surname as first name on girls trend, and it ticks me off so much that people still think they're being "unique" by doing this.

sorry for the tangent.... but UNIQUE? come on. The possibility of coming up with a name that is actually unique? non-existent. Uncommon maybe, but not unique. And since when did the "uniqueness"/ uncommoness of a person's name determine how unique they were? I just don't get the tryndee mom logic somtimes. Names don't make people unique. People make people unique. [/rant]

that wasn't directed at anyone in particular. just kind of boiled over after reading way too many babyname boards. I'm not saying anyone can't like these names, or anything like that.

I think it's very cute! I love both names and I have a thing for sib sets that share the same starting letter =)

UGH. Why why why do Madisons and Mackenzies have to come in pairs?! Considering she actually used BOTH those awful names, they're probably actually Madyssyn and Mekynzie.

i had a friend whos sisters were both those names.. i like the name madison. but i like a whole lotta names myself. so, maybe its just me. mackenzie is cute, but id never name a baby that cause even i have trouble spelling it, so i would never burden a baby with it.
