At the local K-8 school where I volunteer, I've noticed quite a few little girls with classic names + "anna."

Case in point: I know offhand of a "Victorianna," "Emilianna," and a "Julianna."

I think the names are pretty and all...but esp. in the case of "Victorianna," that's taking an already-long name and making it even longer...

IMO, Victoria, Emily/Emilia and Julie/Julia are nice, classic names just the way they are; but I guess it's another case of everyone wanting to be yoonique...

(The worst part? This is a largely Polish population, so the majority of the kids already have crazy-long last names...you'd think the parents could have a little mercy with the first names...)

Victorianna and Emilianna are horrendous.

Julianna is tolerable, though. I've seen it used a few times in the past.

I have a hard time pronouncing Emilianna. Can you imagine what it's like to yell at her? LOL.

Julianna/Juliana/Julianne is a very common variation on the name. It is in no way trying to be "yoonique."
Victorianna is weird to me though.

I've heard Julianna but never Julianne. Apparently you and I are both in the dark. It's been in the top 1000 since the 1930's. http://www.behindthename.com/top/search.php?terms=julianne It looks a little too much like "julienne" to me.

Ivanna was the name of the old friend that Grandpa dated in the Rugrats.

Anna is getting to be a popular name. Whenever people (well, mostly women) ask my name, or look at my work badge, they say they love it or say it's pretty. It gives me a surge of pride for some reason, haha.

Julianna is actually a name, and I believe it's reasonably popular, I've even met a few. I love it.

But the other two are kind of.... ew.

*shrug* Emiliana was my great-great-grandmother's name, it isn't unusual in Italy AFAIK, her daughter was Giuliana, and I went to school with at least two Julianas. I think the double-n spelling is probably a facet of Anglicization rather than a particularly Polish way of spelling the ending. Victorianna does sound a bit odd, but mostly because Victoriana is the word used to describe objects from that era, so it's rather like calling your child Edwardian. ;-)

I've heard Emiliana quite a few times. Maybe it's an Italian thing? Also, one of my neighbors has a little girl named Juliana. It's not just a unique spelling and I didn't think of it as a particularly unusual name. I think it's lovely.

I've heard both Emiliana and Juliana but Victorianna? That's a little too much.
