june15 suggested I make an offical inquiry, so here goes:
I think I have decided on the potential names for my unborn child even though I have at least 7 more months to wait. But now I need ideas for middle names.

For a boy: Jared

For a girl: Kira (pronouced KEER uh)

Also, I don't want to spell Jared any other way, but could have the alternate spellings for Kira? I'm not stuck on that way, its just the first one I heard of.

Possible boy's names, and more I like:
Alexander
Alma (grandfather's name - I don't know if I want to use it though)
Cameron
Frank (my father's name - but I don't think I want to use it)
Nicolas
Nathan (my husband's name - it might work)
Martin (husband's father)
Rigby (my maiden name - I thought that might be cool for a middle name, but i'm not sure if it works)
Tyler
Quin
William

Names that we definately NOT work:
Alan (relative I don't want to think we named our kid after)
Ben (ex boyfriend)
Donald (just don't like it)
James (just too common for my liking)
Jeffery (relative)
Justin (relative)
Mathew (relative)
Peter (ex boyfriend)
Russell (relative)
Steven (relative)

Other girls names that i like that could work:
Alexis
Chelsea
Emmaline (I love it, but she'd have a cousin with the first name Emma, so that might not work)
Hailey
Ivonne (my middle name and my grandmother's name - she's deceased)
Kelsey
Natalie (I love this one but might not be able to talk my husband into it)
Taylor

Names that we definately NOT work:
Jennifer or Jessica
Emma (relative)
Tera (relative)
Cynthia (relative)

I like Jared and Kira (this spelling) best of your fn choices.

I think Jared Rigby is awesome. And I tend to think if the baby is already getting his father's surname, a family name from your side would be more appropriate.

Keira is also another spelling (like the actress) but that might cause people to think you named her after the actress.

One of my best friends at school was called Keera. I think that might be the Australian Aboriginal spelling (and it means something in one of their languages) but it's always been my favourite. She wasn't Aboriginal herself - her mum just liked it.

Jared Quinn is lovely.

Jared Nathaniel was the other one i thought of, cool as it's your husbands name.

I'm not too keen on the name Kira but i do prefer the spellnig you have to Keira (although i am a massive Keira Knightley fan)

Kira Evangeline (like Emmaline, but prettier IMO)
Kira Natalia is also pretty. I don't like Natalie but i love Natalia.

i like keira better than kira, but kyra better than keira. heh. the only problem with kyra is people mispronouncing it. i had a friend named kyra who had some issues with that, but it wasn't anything that major.

I like the idea of using your maiden name for a son's middle name. Jared Rigby sounds good to me.

Kira is a bit harder... although I like Kira Ivonne. Most A-sounds should probably be avoided, though. :)

My friend names her baby Chiara. They pronounce it key-ar-uh (it's Italian). You might try something like Chira. Or Kiera. I personally like the latter spelling the best.

You can also ise the spelling Ciara. It is Irish, the female equivalent of the boy's name Ciaran. I know a Ciara from an Irish background (her sister's Siobhan - very Irish!).

I think Kiera is preferable to Keira (as in Knightley). The former is like Kieran, so has a precedent.

Keiran is a long-accepted spelling in the UK, and Keir is a placename and a reasonably common Scottish surname often used as a middle or first name (see: Keir Hardie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keir_Hardie)). Keira is the feminine version; as Keira Knightley is English it's the correct spelling for her name.

Well, there you go. I'm English and I've never encountered a Keiran or Keira in Sarf London. If Keira is a an anglicised spelling of Kiera/Ciara, however, isn't the Scottish 'Keir' reference incidental? The origin is very different.

I don't think it is as simple as an anglicized version of Ciara, though; indications are that it comes directly from Keir. False friends are very common in name etymology, and whether Keir is related to Ciaran or not, it's long removed if it is and has acquired a separate identity. Scottish spellings and Irish spellings often don't coincide on the same name, too.

The point about the spelling of Keiran is unrelated to the origin of Keira, just showing that 'precedent' would include both versions in English so it doesn't really help!

K. Knightley's from West Lahndahn (Miw'lesex) so yeah, not quite the same as Sarf. :) And her mother's Scottish, which explains the spelling.

I meant to say that spelling, but couldn't remeber. it thanks.

we've thought of ciaran for a boy.

Ciara and Chiara are totally different names, though. Chiara is an Italian form of Clare, which means "bright" or "light" or "clear". Ciara/Ciaran comes from the Irish for "dark."

Love both of your names!

PLEASE keep "Jared" spelt this way! "Jered" is just ugly to me...
I prefer "Kira" spelt like this --> "Keira" ... when it's "Kira" or even more so "Kyra" I feel it has tendency to be confused with the pronounciation K-EYE-RAH.

I love Jared Rigby... because of the idea, and because it's a cool and unusual name! I also adore: Jared Quin & Jared Nicolas!

When it comes to Keira... I like: Keira Alexis, Keira Ivonne & Keira Emmaline (I don't think it's a big deal that she has a cousin named "Emma").

I like Jared and Kira, not so much Kyra.

Jared Nicolas sounds great as does Kira Ivonne, though I don't usually like Ivonne
