on the new season of the real world there is a kid named davis. normal enough. whatever.
he's on the phone with his sister and it does one of those subtitles where it tells you who he's talking to.
her name is GARLAND.

at first i thought "ew gross" but maybe its not that bad?
they are super southern i think....

any thoughts?

I don't like either name. Garland reminds me of Christmas and Judy Garland. It's not even nice-sounding. It sounds very harsh.

The first thing I thought of was Bettie Davis and Judy Garland. Maybe the mom really likes Hollywood Icons. I would never name my kids Davis or Garland.. I wonder if she has a Bogart, too.

I've been watching that too. I was fine with Davis, but I was like "What?" when Garland showed up on the screen. And from what I could tell, he was raised in California so maybe that's where the weird naming came into play.

I like it as a sound/name but it reminds me of Garland Green (Steve Buscemi) in 1997's Con Air. Not the best association.
