[identity profile] ashadelic.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My husband and I are no where near expecting, but want to be atleast SEMI prepared when we are, so we're discussing future baby names. We've come up with 4 names, 2 boy 2 girl, and I wanted to run them by some people to see what reaction they may get. I'll start with a little background:

My name is Ashli and while I do have a slightly different spelling than normal, I have a VERY normal name. I was one of 5 Ashley's in my graduating class of 45 kids. I dont want that for my kids. On the contrary, I had a girl in my class named Tyne and she was the ONLY one in the entire school with that name. I dont want to give my children such outlandish names that no one can figure out how to pronounce them, I just dont want them to blend in with everyone all the time.. anyway, on to the names.

Girls:

Mykah Jorin

(Micah is my husbands name and I think I would rather have a daughter named after him than a son, and Jorin is a semi-combination of our middle names-- Jo and Aaron. I didnt like the spelling Jorron or Joron, so we changed it)

Kaeslyn Amari (Pronounced Case-lynn, it's Irish Gaelic and I'm mostly Irish)

Boys:

Elijah Malachi (both Biblical, both Christians)

Zavyr Bryon

(This one we just discussed tonight. He LOVES the name Xavier and I.... dont! I was playing with shortening it, and he liked Zavyr, but I think it's borderline "Y" happy. I suggested Zavier, but he's not a fan of that. Bryon is my dad and brother's middle name)

i like elijah malachi a lot. :)

i disagree with you that tyne is an "outlandish" name, though. i think it's a pretty name with a lot of history. i think names with made-up spellings border on outlandish.
