Are you kidding me?!

So I'm browsing through the S.S. website at the 1000 most popular names in the 2000's, and I see...Baby. It's #964 and 994 baby girls have the name in the last 5 years...

(Also, 1022 have been Unique...)

Do people really have THAT hard of a time with names that they don't even give their baby one?!

I bet it's because of Dirty Dancing.
can you imagine if that girl got a time-out?
"NOBODY PUTS BABY IN A CORNER." lolol

Well, the interesting part is that the SSA won't give an SSN to a person named Infant. It's surprising that they'd do it for Baby.

me, being the choir geek I am, saw SSA, and thought "soprano, soprano, alto," and then proceeded to wonder how that was of any significance to naming a child.

xD

It's a placeholder for people who haven't picked a name yet. The paperwork gets submitted as Baby Boy Thompson, for example.

Haha, I look to look here http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html and look up "Unknown", "Baby", and "Infant".

Hmmm - seems like people have a much harder time naming male babies, if that is why they appear as names. Interesting.

I think Baby is a great nickname, but as a legal name? Ehhhh no.

The first thing I thought was Dirty Dancing. I love that movie. But that wasn't even HER real name, lol.

Then I realized that it's an indecision thing, like others have said.

Haha i believe it.
it took my parents 3 MONTHS after my baby brother was born, to come up with a name. so they "named" him baby.
in the mean time, they were fighting with 2 different names:
- Coby Arizona Bay William Bergeron.
- Chad Arizona Bergeron.

Even after the Chad name was decided, Baby was stuck, and he was called Baby well until he was four, LOL.

Ugh, the paperwork for Coby would have been horrible.

My brother had baby on his name tag in the hospital though we picked his name in time for the paperwork.
Because of our last name it said baby lamb lol.

My baby name book says that Unique was actually a popular name long ago. It doesn't give specifics but it is part of a list of names that were in the top 1,000 American names at some point in the 20th century.
