(no subject)

What do you think of Corona for a girl? Would people be able to get over the whole "beer" thing (though my grandpa was Bud Miller, so maybe it doesn't even matter, lol!)? I can't figure out if I really like the name, or I just like the beer so it has a good conotation. It's not really on my names list, but whenever I'm thinking of names it pops into my head with the middle name Noel.

Also, what about these:

Adoray
Cadence
Cassidy
Sasha/ Sashenka
Sariah

The middle name will most likely be Alia (AH-lee-ah, emphasis on the first). If any of these names are spelled wrong, please let me know. They're from a list I made when pregnant with my first, so I really can't say where they came from.

Thanks!

Oh, and I think our boy name will probably be Jeremiah Austin.

Edited to add: I found another list of names, so I'd like feedback on these also:
Rihanna
Lorelei
Serenity

I wouldn't be able to get over the beer thing.

The only name from your list that I like a lot is Lorelei (and Noel). I'm ok with Cadence and Rhianna (that's the only spelling I've ever seen), but I don't like the others. Cassidy is a boy name to me and Sasha is the Russian nickname for Alexander so that seems odd for me for a girl as well.

oh, and I love Jeremiah Austin

[identity profile] dancing-crazy.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I can't get over the beer thing. Sorry.

I love Sasha though. I might like it better spelled Sascha. Cadence is absolutely gorgeous, but apparently it's getting really popular. I like the sound of Alexandra Alia--Sasha is originally a nickname for Alexandra (or Alexander) and you could nickname her Sasha.

Sadly, I think Corona almost sounds pretty... but the beer conotation would be far too much. I like the name Cassidy (prefer Kassidy on a girl), and I think Cadence is pretty.

I dont think Id ever be able to disassociate Corona with the beer, though itd be cute since its slightly reminiscent of your grandfather! I like Serenity a lot, but thats because Im really loving the extremely old fashioned names like Remeberance. Jeremiah is sweet though.

[identity profile] septembergrrl.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
I think we have very different tastes, but....

Corona - no, no one would get past the beer. Sorry.
Adoray - Is this a name? Sounds like a soap.
Cadence - Eh. I don't hate it, and Cadence Alia is cute in a trendy way.
Cassidy - Actually this is one of my favorite gender-neutral names. Like a lot.
Sasha/Sashenka -- I like Sasha okay. Sashenka doesn't sound right to me.
Sariah - Not my taste.
Rihanna -- Nah. But I do like Rhiannon.
Lorelei -- Very pretty.
Serenity -- Isn't this a brand of adult diapers? That crosses it off for me.

[identity profile] zorianna.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Serenity -- Isn't this a brand of adult diapers?

Indeed it is. I said the same thing one comment down. LoL

[identity profile] zorianna.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, I'm pretty sure Corona will always be associated with the beer.

As for the other names...
Adoray - don't really like it.
Cadence - love it
Cassidy - it's okay, but I'm not crazy about it
Sasha/ Sashenka - Sasha is my cat's name, so I can't imagine a person being named it. LoL
Sariah - Don't like it. If I'm pronouncing it right, it makes me think of psoriasis.
Rihanna - I've only ever seen it Rhianna unless you're pronouncing it differently spelled this way
Lorelei - Love it, but with the popularity of Gilmore Girls, it's becoming too popular.
Serenity - Incontinence products.

[identity profile] zorianna.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Okay then, I like Rhianna. But I'm more partial to Rhiannon, as someone else suggested.

[identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I only like Cadence on your list. I would definitely think of the beer if you had a Corona.

[identity profile] elemmennope.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, definitely makes me think of cheap beer. I like Corona, don't get me wrong. But I don't think it's a good name. It's too bad though, because if it weren't for the beer, it might make a cool name. The second thing I think of is the corona of the sun, and that's pretty cool. Ah well, it's a shame when a brand name ruins a name like that.

Adoray - not sure... it seems a little cheesey/sappy to me, the way it sounds like adore or adoration.
Cadence - ok
Cassidy - ok, kinda cutesy
Sasha - nice
Sariah - nice
Rihanna - don't care for it
Lorelei - ok, but I don't love it. Too Gilmore Girls.
Serenity - adult diapers
Alia - nice. My friend used this for her daughters mn. (Fn is Salome.)

[identity profile] sarahrose.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I like Corona as a sound, and that would DEFINITELY be a unique family tradition, LOL! I don't think I could get over the beer, though.

Adoray - Eh.
Cadence - Nice.
Cassidy - Ewww.
Sasha/Sashenka - Neither, blech.
Sariah - Not bad!

Alia - Beautiful!

Jeremiah Austin - Okay.

Rihanna - Eh.
Lorelei - I prefer Lorelai, but I like it. I love the nn Lori (my #2 name for a girl is Lorraine, and I just love Lori for it)
Serenity - Makes me think of the movie/show, but I like it.

[identity profile] trissyd.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Corona... mmm... extra lime on your baby? I agree that it has pretty sounds, but it will always and forever be thought of as a beer, sorry.

The rest are alright, not really my tastes, although I do really like both Cadence & Lorelei.

[identity profile] secret-x-stars.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Loreleiiiii :D

I have a friend who went by Sariah for a wicked long time. I like it lots. Sari is a really cute nickname.

Love Sasha and I actually like Sashenka. I have a weakness for names with hard K sounds in them, though. :O

[identity profile] smileygoldfish.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I think Candace goes really well with Alia

[identity profile] bree019.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Cadence Alia is the best combination, IMO. They sound great together.

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Corona is a no go. Beer references would be CONSTANT. Esp when she got to jr high/high school.

Adoray - don't like
Cadence - really hate. trendy and blah.
Cassidy - okay
Sasha/ Sashenka - okay
Sariah - kinda pretty
Rihanna - really like Rhianna
Lorelei - very pretty
Serenity - yuck.

[identity profile] xcuore.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I like corona, it makes me think of the sun (it doesnt reminds me of the beer but that's because here ni holland is no coronabeer).

of your other girls names i like Sariah and Sasha^^
Jeremiah Austin is beautiful :)

[identity profile] smasharash.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Adoray - I've not heard this before, it's quite nice
Cadence - I think I like it but it seems quite posh. And the nn Cady annoys me because it sounds like Katy being miss pronounced.
Cassidy - I like this name. What about Cassia? And Keziah?
Sasha/ Sashenka - nice
Sariah - nice but sort of looks like Sarah being miss pronounced
Rihanna - nice
Lorelei - love this name!
Serenity - I don't like this name, it seems pretencious to me.

[identity profile] queen-mab.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Corona will always be associated with the beer.

Alia is nice, but I prefer Aria since it is an actual word and a musical term.

I like Rhianna and Lorelei, but not Serenity so much.

Adoray - Is this pronounced AD-or-ray or Uh-DOR-ay? I like the first pronunciation better, but still... not too fond of it. The second proununciation sounds like someone trying to speak French but failing miserably.
Cadence - Never liked this.
Cassidy - Used to be a favorite name of mine. Not so much anymore.
Sasha/ Sashenka - Bleh. No.
Sariah - Sounds like psoriasis. So no.

[identity profile] queen-mab.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and I like Noel and Austin, but don't like Jeremiah. Every time I meet a Jeremiah, I suppress the urge to belt out JEREMIAH WAS A BULLFROOOOGGG..

[identity profile] darabelle.livejournal.com 2006-11-28 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
for me personally, corona reminds me too much of my coyote ugly days. and that's just not a memory i would want to think of every time i looked at my little girl. lol =\

[identity profile] maelwaedd.livejournal.com 2006-11-29 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sasha's a Russian boys nickname, so it doesn't work for me on a girl. I adore the name, but I can't get my head around girls called Sasha. Unless they're girl dogs, in which case it doesn't matter. :)

I adore Lorelei, though.

[identity profile] bagira.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Sasha is a unisex name. There are plenty of Russian and non-Russian Alexandras that are Sashas.

[identity profile] maelwaedd.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I thought it was just a unisex name for dogs. I've known plenty of boy Sashas, but the only girls I've known have been dykes who've changed their name to Sasha/Sascha.

[identity profile] bagira.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Very strange, frankly. :-) Not only is Sasha a diminutive of Alexandra, but Sasha Cohen is Sasha, for instance, and she doesn't look like a dyke to me at all. %)))) I'm sure there are other famous females Sashas, not to mention a plethora of famous female Alexandras (half of Queen Victoria's female family had that name). I went to college with a British girl named Sasha Higgins, and a friend of mine has a daughter Sasha. %)

I'll give you that Americans like that name for their dogs, which is too bad--I think it's terribly pretty. %)

[identity profile] bagira.livejournal.com 2006-12-01 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Would people be able to get over the whole "beer" thing?"

Nope. :-)

Sasha is good to go with your other daughter's Russian name, but for all the saints don't name her Sashenka. People here mispronounce it horribly--it's supposed to have the accent on the first A, and everybody pronounces it with an accent on the E. Not to mention that it's a diminutive nickname, not a full name.

Lorelei is too bombastic (not to mention that Lorelei was actually a pretty malicious siren that lured mariners into her trap, to drown--do you really want your daughter to be named that?), Rhianna is good, Serenity (like any other trait name--Charity, Chastity) is asking for it, Adoray sounds like pig latin to me, and Cadence is too much of a word to be a name. You might as well name her "Beat." %))))
