Did you name your baby or your better half? I know my dad had no say in the matter with me, my mother named me Dorina. Same with my sister, Christa, and even my brother Bryan. All of us were named by my mother. I know my dad tried to help name my sister Birtha, and my mother refused. LOL perhaps that's a good thing.

My husband and I made a promise to agree or the name isn't used. LOL we never got to pick a girl's name out for our first born as Jocelyn was born 4 weeks early and we thought it was a boy. And no we didn't know the sex of our first born. This time we made another rule and promise, to pick names early before the baby was born so we wouldn't have to come up with a name on the spot; for girl Madeline Dorothy, for boy, Gabriel Maximilian. We both agreed on both names almost right away. Did you fight with your spouse till you or he/she caved or was a mutual effort in naming your kids?

BTW, anyone can answer this, even if you are not having a baby. I thought to put this out there as I've heard alot of people having arguments about baby names and what to name their baby.

Like my sister had no choice but to name both her boys scottish names as her husband wouldn't budge.

Oh and if you didn't get to help in the naming the baby, do you like it or hate it?

I don't have an SO, and no chance of any children right now. My plan is just to write a big list and present it to him with the instruction 'pick your favourite.'
Not that he can't make suggestions of course, those will be noted and added or vetoed. (guess we should both have veto power)

We have rabbits and I tried to involve my brother in naming them but he useless (we have polar opposite naming style which doesn't help) so I just went ahead without him.

For our parents it was joint effort naming us.
It took days to name me. Mum wanted Megan, Dad wanted Angela or Victoria. Ended up using the first thing they agreed on which something totally diffrent.
My brother was easier to name, Richard was the only boys name they liked and had decided on it when expecting me (good thing I was a girl).
I got to pick his middle name Thomas, after the tank engine (I was three!).

I think that's something like what I'd do- probly give him my rather large list and go thru them together
