Let me give a little back story on these names, first.

My mother is 49 years old. I am her oldest child. In August, she was diagnosed with terminal stage IV lung cancer w/ metastasis. At the time we received the diagnosis, my husband and I were living in New York with my in-laws. We had just signed a lease for a duplex apartment, and we were about to move in. Before we even had a chance, we decided that we needed to move back to Florida, so that I could be with my mom, and give back to her all of the things that she has always given to me: unconditional love, support, and tireless care. Shortly after my mom was diagnosed with cancer, my grandfather passed away from a massive heart attack. The end months of 2006 have been very difficult for my family...I am definitely looking forward to 2007. Hopefully, the new year will bring joy to our lives.

Since we moved down here, we've been living under the same roof with my entire family (my mom, sister, and the older of my 2 brothers...my baby brother (who is 10, and not so much a baby, anymore) comes to visit every other weekend). My mom has also stated, quite bluntly, that my husband and I should not do anything to prevent conception, because she would like to have/know she will have a grandchild before she passes away, whenever that may be. We have agreed not to prevent anything.

My husband and I knew that, should my mom pass away before a child is born, that we will name our first born child after her. Her first name is Cindy, and her Hebrew name is Sarah. Middle names have been chosen in honor of my grandfather, whose name was Edward. Our last name is two parts, 10 letters, and Italian in origin.

For a girl, we chose the name Aurora-Cinda Elizabeth, Hebrew name Sarah. "Aurora-Cinda" is a name that we created using Latin roots. It means "Cindy's dawn."

For a boy, we chose the name Cohen Edward, Hebrew name Samuel. "Cohen" is a traditional Levite name. My mom did a genalogy of our family several years ago, and was able to trace our lines all the way back to the Israelite tribe of Levi. We chose the Hebrew name Samuel, because we couldn't very well name a baby boy Sarah, now could we? lol

I've gotten some mixed opinions on these names in the past, and I'm just looking for some fresh perspectives...

Thanks in advance, and I hope that everyone had a happy Thanksgiving, here in the US.

I completely agree with either ditching the "Elizabeth", or have her just have 2 middle names...

"Aurora Cinda LASTNAME" is quite nice IMO, still honours your mother in a great way as well. Aurora-Cinda is WAY too much of a mouthful (5 syllabels is way too much for one name IMO)... The meaning is great, but the hypen just kind of makes the name look tacky, no offense.

Cohen Edward is amazing. I love it. I also like that you changed the hebrew name from Seth - now it's not a little less OC :)!
