Nov. 15th, 2006 10:02 pmMy boyfriends sister's are Alexandra and Anastasia.
But they never go by their full names, they go by nicknames.
The obvious nicknames would be Alex and Ana.
But...
Anastasia --> Tasie (sounds like daisy)
Alexandra --> Lexie
So, they have a smart, "normal" name to fall back on. But go by unusual nicknames, which means that they aren't one of 5 Alex's or Anna's in their class.
I have a really hard time coming up with names that my boyfriend likes. One of the names near the top of my list is Asha, but he doesn't like it because it's too "out there", and it reminds him of a song ("brim full of Asha and a 45..."), and it sounds too much like Ashley.
Anyway, so I realised that Natasha without the Nat is Asha.
And he likes it! I think it appeals because it's following on a family naming theame, and Natasha is Russian, and he has Russian heritage, and his sister's full names are also Russian! (Don't know if you can tell but I'm pretty excited!) He likes it :D
So everyone can call her Asha and she can have Natasha to fall back on. What do you think?
Also, can you think of any other normal, sensible names that have more interesting and not so common nicknames?

Date: 2006-11-15 10:39 pm (UTC)The obvious nickname for Anastasia to me is Stacy.
I've heard several Lexies from Alexandra.
