What are your thoughts on these girly names:
-Miranda
-Giselle

Also, what nicknames could be associated with those names?

Thanks! :)

I love Miranda :). Giselle makes me think of a snooty model or something. It's not awful but definitely not something I'd use.

Nicknames:
Miranda - Mia, Randi
Giselle - Elle, Ellie

Miranda: I like it. Nicknames could be Mira (LOVE), Mirrie, or Randi (which I don't like, but I've heard it for Miranda.)

Giselle: A little frilly for me. Only nn I can think of is Gis, which is not so nice.

giselle is actually my first name and whenever people ask what my name is and i tell them, i always get comments like "well that's a pretty name". the only problem i've ever had with it is that sometimes people can't pronounce or spell it, but otherwise it's alright. although i do think it sounds a bit too frilly and poodle-like so mostly i go by elly, which is a nice watered-down nickname that doesn't make me sound like i think i'm at the top of the world. some of my friends call me "gis" but it sounds too much like jizz so i don't like it that much. my friend marc calls me "gigi" which is cute but i wouldn't like everyone calling me that so it's just elly really.

and miranda reminds me of lizzie mcguire haha.

Love Giselle, I suggested it to Michael but it got the paternal veto. Ellie would be a cute nickname.

Hate Miranda, reminds me of 'Serenity'. Miranda was a planet that the government put a calming agent into the air (to weed out aggression) and it made the people just stop doing everything and they died. But in a tenth of a percent of the population the people turned SUPER aggressive and were called Reavers. Reavers will rape you to death, eat your flesh and sew your skin into their clothes. And if you are very lucky they will do it in that order.

Miranda sounds dated to me, and not in a good way. I like Giselle, but it's a little "too much" for me, I think. It would be a good mn maybe.
As for nicknames... GiGi or Elle and Mira or Andy if you want to go that route.

I babysit a little girl named Miranda! I think it is a beautiful name, and suits both a little girl and a grown woman just wonderfully. My Miranda's nicknames are Randi and Randa. =D

Miranda reminds me of THREE things, automatically:
1) My childhood teddybear (I don't know WHERE I got the name from)
2) The Tempest - Shakespeare
3) The "mom" character from Robin Williams "Mrs.Doubtfire" movie, hah!

Giselle reminds me of the beauty school in my area.

I was just thinking about Miranda nn Mimi earlier today, but I can't decide if that's too dated or not.
