A new guy started at my work today. His name is Dimitar. I've never seen this. When I first heard it I automatically thought "Demeter" as in the Greek goddess. But Dimitar looks like it may be more Russian? I'm not sure. Does anyone know anything about this name?

I don't but that's an interesting name. Is it pronounced like Demeter?

It is the same meaning--Earth Goddess. Dimitar is Bulgarian in origin. It is the same version of the Russian Dimitri and the modern English Demetre, Demetrius and ancient Greek Demetrios.
