Nov. 2nd, 2006 02:45 pmIve recently found out im having a girl much to my suprise. I was convinced it was a boy so now im stuck, all those names i initially liked for girls, i dont like anymore. The only ones i like are:
Peyton (or Paten)
Ayla (or isla)
im truly stuck. It needs to go with Turkozu as a surname, help?

Date: 2006-11-02 09:13 pm (UTC)But beyond my personal dislike of the name, I see it as very apple-pie American. It sounds odd with a last name like Turkozu, which I think calls for a more... cosmopolitan or universal? sort of name. (I'm not saying anything about whether people from other backgrounds are "American" or not - obviously, yes, that goes without saying - although I'm Canadian, and we tend to have a slightly different sense of multiculturalism, I think. All I'm talking about is that it sounds off.)
I like Ayla or Isla much, much better, not only because these names are lovely, but also because they sound much better with the last name.

Date: 2006-11-03 12:05 am (UTC)I don't think Ayla is pronounced like Isla, so I can't whole-heartedly agree that one. But I do still think Ayla (AY-la) is nice with the last name.

Go on a babyname website and just trawl through the list, takes a long time but it's fun :-)
