"Melissa Etheridge and her partner Tammy are the new parents of a son and a daughter, People has learned.

Their son Miller Steven and their daughter Johnnie Rose were born on Tuesday. Both Tammy and babies are in excellent health, according to their rep.

Etheridge already has two children from a previous relationship with Julie Cypher: daughter Bailey Jean, 9, and son Beckett, 7."

Not sure how I feel about Johnnie for a girl, but otherwise I like. WDYT?

I think boys often get it much easier in life than girls :/

Why do the boys get safe names, like Miller, Beckett, Steven, etc... and Johnnie gets a boy's name?

Oh, I read your comment wrong lmfao. Sorry about that! I agree with you. :)

Have to agree, I like all the names except for Johnnie for the daughter. Johnnie could work for a girl, but it also might not. It might have been nice to name her something like Johanna with the possibility of Johnnie as a nickname - then you can see whether it suits or not.

That said, the Rose does feminize the name quite a bit and the girl always has the option to opt for either Rose or to have people say the whole name.

Miller sounds like a last name to me.
As a first name it's also one of the old-fashioned occupation names I don't like, as in Taylor, Thatcher and Sawyer.

I don't like first names for girls that sound like nicknames for boys. I thought Johnnie was a nickname for John or Johnathon anyway,
not a full name even for a boy. Why not give her a fuller more feminine name she can shorten if she wants to?
I suppose Rose balances it a bit though.

Baileys is an alcoholic drink, and I heard of the drink before I heard of the name so I could never use it.
Also Bailey means "bailiff" I'd like something more meaningful and less job related for my future kids.

Beckett also sounds like a last name.

Miller is great. Johnnie, not so much.

(&@&*%#% WHYYYYYY boy's names for girls?

Johnnie Rose is horrible horrible horrible. Miller Steven is blah. Bailey Jean is soooo trendy & Beckett is meh too.

I don't like Johnnie Rose but I think it's interesting. I wonder what their reasons are for choosing that.

Miller Steven sounds like Miller, Steven - like the last name is first. Like how Steve Miller's name must have been called. It also makes me think of miller moths.

I think I just looked at the bold first (without reading the rest) and thought "Rose for a boy? How odd."

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like either one. A boys name on a girl with the middle name Rose... how clever.

[identity profile] corielcries.livejournal.com 2006-10-27 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I really don't like either. I think Rose is the new filler name. It'd be nice as a first name for a change.
