This isn't really name related perse, but I had posted in here when my brother's girlfriend was pregnant asking for name suggestions and whatnot, and then posted when she was finally born... just thought I'd share a couple of pictures of the little bundle of cuteness... these pictures were taken on October 10th.

They also have a ten-year old half-brother (my nephew), Dominick Anthony. I think they all have rather lovely names. :)

I know! That is so ironic! Nice to know someone did use such a beautiful name! And Lily and I have the same middle name ;) I'm a Diana though!

One question though, what are you going to do about a nn? As someone with Di(die) for a nickname, I am concerned ^^;

Yeah, I thought about that too. But when you really think about it, when people shorten names, they don't really think of it negatively, ya know? If, say, Scarlett is 16 and her friend is calling her across the hallway at school and she shouts, "SCAR!" I don't think it's going to be as negative as we forsee it just because of the word itself. Do you know what I mean?

I thought of Lettie for a nn, too. I don't like that, though. I think of an old woman, lol.

I agree with that! because yeah Di never bothered me too, and I'm sure no one ever thought someone was telling me to die! But still when I stopped and thought about it I was like, my nn is Di...!

But yeah Lettie is pretty bad, I think Scar is much better.

lol. WELL, Lily has been calling Scarlett "Scar" apparently, but she's only three, so she doesn't understand why that's a silly nickname just yet. lol. I'm afraid Scarlett will be haunted with that though. People on this board have suggested things like Carrie or Lettie, though I don't see either of those being used right now. Just Scarlett works, I guess. My nephew Dominick is just Dominick... he rarely gets called Dom or anything.

Also, my brother's girlfriend (the mother of my two nieces) is calling the baby "Meena Mouse," but that's using her middle name (it's cuter if you know that Lily's been called "Lily Bug" her whole life, lol

You dont HAVE to shorten names. My boy is Andrew, not Andy ever.. it's no problem.

I think it's funny... I normally come on the site first, but this time I just went into the userinfo to make a post... so it's weird that that happened. sarahrose is on my friends list, so i thought maybe that's why she made the poll (it could have to do with that... she's probably seen that my niece's name is Scarlett a few times on there, and maybe that's partly what had it on her mind), but yeah, it's amusing. The fact that my niece is such a doll has made me like the name more. I never had any feeling toward it either way before, but now... it just suits her (I'm also glad my brother and his girlfriend used a name I didn't want to use this time, lol. My top pick for girls' names has been Lillian Rachel for YEARS now. Definitely Lillian, and I'd just settled on Rachel not long before my first niece came to be. I can't very well name a baby Lillian Rachel now that they have a Lilliana Rae. lol)

Yeah, I'm not a fan of their middle names. I think their mom got "Rae" from some model or something, and "Meena" is my brother's gf's grandmother's name (who passed away last year), so it was a tribute. Both girls are actually named for their great-grandmothers, as Lillian was my great-grandmother's name

I'm not fond of the middle names either. But they were significant to their mother, so that's why they were used. Ah well.
