Crazy friends:)

My friend's immediate family:

Rigo and Casey have two daughters, Nia, and Keira. They are currently pregnant with a boy and want to name him William.

Does that seem off to anyone?

I'm reading Freakonomics and their section on baby naming mentions that parents are a lot less adventurous with boy names as a rule.

Maybe it just sounds odd because it doesn't end with an 'a' sound. Personally I don't think Nia and Kiera are that unusual sounding that they would make William sound out of place.

My friend's sister has two girls Satara (not sure if that's the right spelling) and Codie, and she just had a boy called Neil. I thought that was kinda off, so I see where you're coming from ;]

Not another William. I like the name but everyone and their brother is naming their kid William these days.

It was in my list of names, but my husband turned it down flat... expressing it was "boring".

kind of like the family I know who has Estrella (uh-stray-uh) and Sotchil (so-cheel), both girls, and then named their son... John Paul. if he'd been a girl, he'd have been Lucia, which would have sounded a bit better with the other names.

though in their case, I think there was a conversion of some sort. Estrella means star. Sotchil means flower. Lucia was a visionary at Fatima. John Paul was the last pope. so either way, the third kid would've gotten a religious name, after the first two didn't.

I love William and Keira and think they look nice together. I don't like Nia.. I think it's boring but still trying to be creative and unique. But it's just blah to me. I don't think Nia, Keira and William look THAT off as a sibset.
