What do you think of the nickname Annie for Andrea?

I don't really like the name Andi, and Andrea is my cousin's name. I think if there was a good nickname, I could use the name, and I have always LOVED Annie.

Annie is fine, my newphews call me Aunt Annie.
I actually like Andi, because my dad was the main person who called me that.
I haven't been called Andi since he passed away.
Everyone else calls me Andrea.

i think its fine. i have a friend named andrea who goes by anne to a lot of people, so i dont think annie would be a stretch at all.

annie would be fine. i really love andie as a nickname for andrea tho, hehe.

i am called annika but annie works for andrea as well. it is nice.

Seems odd for a nick for Andrea. For one thing, people will call her Andi whether or not you like it or your daughter likes it. Secondly, she'd have to tell everyone she likes to be called Annie because no one would conclude that on their own. There are more awkward name/nickname situations, but still...I just wouldn't suggest that.

I've never had people, other than family, try to call me Andi.

Well, often in life people get called common nicknames for their names. I don't even have a common name and at least one person calls me a nick that's technically correct and common to the name and I don't like it at all. With more common names, it usually happens more often. I've heard a lot of people have to say they dislike a nickname (i.e. Michael doesn't want to be called Mike).

Then there's also the assumption that the kid doesn't want to go by Andi, and they might.

Anyway, yeah..
