names I saw recently
Oct. 6th, 2006 04:18 pmI don't know how legitamite these are... I found them in my ocd notes from stuff I saw on books and myspace:
two Horrible, Horrible names... I found these somewhere, I think myspace. the second one has GOT to be a joke. even with the kirstins and the tristen's... thirstin? like for a drink? fathom just looks gothy and the first three letters spell fat.
Fathom
Thirstin
these are nms but struck me as different. Not so bad as the first two:
Brant
Signe (I suppose it would be pronounced sigg-nee, but it looks like Sign to me)
Idania
Bryn
Alternative spellings of two girls names I saw today that I though weren't sucky but actually kind of clever:
AnnDee
Kymberlie

Date: 2006-10-06 11:40 pm (UTC)From a surname which was derived from a place name meaning "THOR stone" in Old Norse.
And it's been used as a first name for years. Spelling it Thirstin is pretty terrible, though.
The only other ones I find horrible are Fathom and AnnDee. And I don't think Kimberlie is that bad. Could be loads worse.

Date: 2006-10-07 05:20 am (UTC)Thirstin spelled that way is weird. I have heard of Thurston, though.

Date: 2006-10-07 09:21 am (UTC)Was it for a girl or a boy? It's pronounced with a th sound, like Theodore, so fat isn't obvious unless you spell it out.
I'm not as keen on Fatima in the west 'cos you can hear fat and just know it would end up being her nickname.
Thurstan/Thurston sounds alright to me but spelled Thirstin sounds like they're setting him up for a career in drinks commercials.
Brant reminds me of brat.
Bryn reminds me of brine.
I know a guy called Andy so to me it seems off for a girl.
I mean the double ee only makes it look more feminine, it'll still be pronounced the same way.
