Boy/Girl Twin Names

My husband and I are expecting boy/girl twins next spring. We have a 2-year-old named Noah.

We've had the name "Adam" picked for our second boy for a very long time. My brother's name is Adam and he will also be the babies' godfather. It's the girl's name we're stuck on.

My husband's family is Italian/Sicilian, so we've been having some fun looking for Italian names. We also added a couple that don't really go with the rest, but we like them. For example, Aurora - which was our choice for our first child if he had been a girl. We also really like Audrey.

I'd like to stay away from names that are very popular, so I'm a bit worried about some of these names. I should also mention that I'm not a fan of cutesy matching twin names, so a couple of the names are lower on my list because of how cheesy they sound with Adam... (Adam and Audrey, for example, though I love the name Audrey).

Uh, so are we like twins or something? :D
I'm having what we're pretty sure is B/G twins in February and our boys name is also almost definitely Adam (Adam Isaac or Adam Grey, haven't decided yet) and just last night I mentioned Audrey to my husband. She probably won't end up Audrey, I'm pretty stuck on having an Annabel Lee at this point, but I like the name. And my husband is also Italian, jeez!

That's nuts! Of course, I love the names. :)

Other Italian girl's names we've considered: Francesca, Giovanna, Giada, Gioia, and Luciana. :)

Ahh, an Edgar Allan Poe fan, huh? (I have cats named Edgar, Allan, and Poe - heh). 'Annabel Lee' was always one of my favorites :)

My husband really likes Giovanna, but I like Gianna better. I'm really torn on some of these!

Gianna could always be a nickname for Giovanna! I love both names, too.

I lika Adam and Audrey together, I think it's cute.

I think that Aurora sounds too close to Noah, but that's just me...

Noah, Adam and Lucia is nice, too.

But Audrey is my favorite from that list.

I really do like Adam & Audrey together, too - they flow well - I just worry about the cutesy factor! :)

I hadn't thought of that with Aurora, but I kind of agree. I couldn't quite put my finger on why I don't seem to like it as much this time around as I did when I was pregnant with Noah.

I like Gianna and Sofia (although, Sofia is gaining in popularity).

And I've always loves Cecilia, which was my great grandmother's name, and she was Italian.

Yeah, I'm worried about that one. I've always liked the French form (Sophie) a lot, but noticed in the past two years that it is *really* popular. So far most people are voting for that one, though! (in my personal journal)

I think Gianna may be my favorite :)

I love Lucia, too, except I'm not totally a fan of the nickname Lucy, and I'm afraid people will always think it's pronounced Loo-see-ah.

you think? Maybe..but once you say your name is ___ ppl usually get it. In gr.9 science on the first day my teacher called me Gina, i corrected him and he always called me Jena after that. I love Lucia (although im slightly biased, as im a fan of the talented Lucia micarelli)

I adore the name Adam! It used to be my first choice for a boy but sadly, I found the name Thatcher and Deacon and they took over first and second.

Yep, you could pronounce Milena the same way - except I suppose the "proper" Italian pronunciation would be closer to [mee-LAY-nah]. So, "mee" versus "meh".

I love the name Adam - we were going to name our daughter Adam if she'd been a boy :) I also lovelovelove Amalia from your list, but I do think that Adam and Amalia are a bit too similar if you don't like matching names (unless you'd shorten Amalia at all?)

I also like Sofia and Aurora. I don't think Adam and Aurora are too similar despite them both being A names.

I don't see why people are considering Audrey and Adam to be at all matching. They both start with A, but a completely different sounding A... like, Adam is the sharp "apple" sort of A, and Audrey is almost more like Or-dree, not even much of an A sound... if that makes sense

It would just be having the same initial that makes it matchy in my opinion, and that's not the end of the world

I like Aurora. But I think perhaps if you are dead set on using Adam then you should probably steer away from names begining with A.
Lucia and Sofia are lovely too.

another thing to consider: I've heard Adam nn'd to Addy & Audrey nn'd to Auddy which are similar. I'm not saying YOU would necessarily do it but it could happen.

Personally I like (in this order) Gianna, Lucia & Sofia. :)
